SirHumphreyAppleby:
Do any look like this?
Not sure. Maybe. I will check later. They are in awkward places.

Nothing fancy but they work well enough for most use cases. Three are branded Dick Smith. Three are Uni-T (?). The rest I am keeping. If you want them come and collect or send a courier bag.
Uni-T do decent stuff once you move past the entry level cheapies, do you have a model number?
Sorry, I missed this. The model of all three is UT20B. Probably an entry level cheapie. They are pretty tiny.

I have at least four or five BBC computers. At least one is an Archimedes. BBC doesn't seem to put any kind of identifying information whatsoever on the case, just 'Acorn'. I have never played with these machines and know nothing whatsoever about them.
I've never really understood the naming. The Acorn name was dropped altogether for the BBC Micro series it seems, but was used for both earlier and later models.
Do any look like this?
One does look like that. What does it signify?

As you mentioned, these things are a bit difficult to tell apart due to their lack of labels. The red/black colouring indicates it's a 'BBC Micro', which covered several models, but if it looks exactly like that, it's the BBC Master Compact. We had one of those until I was about 13... many, many hours were spent playing Repton 3 on that platform.
As far as I can tell without hauling it out of storage, it is the same. Do you want it?

Annoyance: The inability to turn off the commentary track when watching a movie with my brother.
One of my favourite Squash players I was hoping to meet next week has pulled out of the Tournament with injury. Probably my only chance to meet him. Gutted.
Questions on Trade Me. Selling an item of clothing, I've put Size L in the description, selected L from the listing pulldown, and linked to the manufacturer's sizing chart and some joker asks "Is it a large fit?" 🤦♂️

Probaby asking more about the 'fit' rather than the size. Some brands run larger or smaller in each size. Hard for you to know that though really.

Any old monitors running on the BBC era machines? I'm after a monitor for my acorn electron after my parents gave the monitor away in 1992You're still harbouring a grudge, aren't you?

Any pictures or model numbers or input ports?
Are you in Hastings because I'm going to be in HB next week visiting those parents....
You know the ones who threw away my monitor in 1992
I live in rural Hastings. I should be around all week but check by private mail to verify a date if you want to come by.
Thanks to this thread I now know that one of the machines is a Risc PC. Another is almost certainly a BBC Master Compact. I think there are at least two monitors, and at least one was verified as working a few years ago when it was last turned on. I assume these monitors would work with any Acorn computer of that era.
The computers are all stored in awkward places where they are difficult to get at and I don't really have anywhere else to put them. The ones in the attic are also quite dirty. I am happy to let you have any of these if you want them, but I'm not willing to dig them out just to check model numbers. I'm afraid you will have to work that out if you come. PM me if you want address details.

Yep, thought that after I posted. It's a hat, so I may have to measure my noggin and describe the fit. Not that I can remember as it's been in the wardrobe for a decade. Not wearing it to try as it's been washed.
Behodar:
Neat! Although this leads to further questions such as What do you have? How much do you want for it? Where is it? and Are you prepared to courier it?
OK, I found an actual Archimedes. It is the A3020 model. It is covered in attic dust and I have no idea if it was working when put away. It is yours if you want it.
I also have two Acorn monitors that I know of. I think at least one was working the last time it was tried. The other also came out of the attic. It may or may not work. I will see later if I can at least power them up and get the screens to light.
I have promised the first monitor to @afe66, who is coming to collect it next week. I guess you could have the other one if you wish. Maybe you can arrange with @afe66 to collect these for you. I don't know where either of you live but everyone except me seems to be in Auckland or Wellington. No guarantees that any of this works. Take it or leave it.
