freitasm: Lifts... People who walk into a lift, push the button and stay in front of the panel making it harder for everyone else to reach the buttons. Why can't people push the button and move to other side of the lift, out of the way?

Or people who get in the lift and go down one floor. Just take the damn stairs - it's faster, and it's better for you!

When I am in a hotel bathroom, or any bathroom that's not my own, and I have to clean my teeth.

I hate when the water from the tap sprays directly down the plug. I like the water to hit the basin, and swirl, so the toothpaste can be spat into the swirl to be taken away directly.

That lightbulbs come in a flimsy cardboard carton and batteries in indestructible plastic.

Bit hard to do that if they are in a wheelchair or on crutches. ;)

jonathan18:

Personally, I think they're bollox as they simply introduce confusion - no-one seems to know who has right-of-way, and either party can get quite peeved when the other doesn't give way! I don't think roads are the place to test out such ambiguity.

Speaking of crossings that are bollox...

I shake my head every time I have to negotiate this roundabout. The poor placement of pedestrian crossings at each roundabout exit (bar one) are an accident waiting to happen.

We have one like that in Whakatane, but with "courtesy crossings" instead, so you never know whether someone is going to stop or not. Add a 5th exit and a one-way street and you can imagine how "fun" it is!

Of course! But if you're clearly very able bodied. A guy in my building did this the other day (Level 1 to ground) dressed as if he was about to start a run on go to the gym.

According to the OED, the latter.

Oh good I'm saying it right, glad I'm not annoying @networkn with that then. ;)

networkn: The discussion on pedestrians could almost have it's own topic at this point?

It could, because most of them (pedestrians) are so stupid. :p

I've written the word pedestrians so much, I'm not even sure it's right anymore. Pedestrians. Pedestrians. Hmm, it's okay, auto-correct tells me I'm right.

That 'pop vinyl' thread on Geekzone annoys me.
Every time I see it pop up I think it's going to be an interesting discussion on vinyl records:-(

jmh: American spelling.

For me it's English spelling that pxxses me off. Lets stick these letters the wrong way around, or stick a needless u in a word that doesn't need it. And people that insist English spelling is the "proper" one despite being a vastly smaller population and a country with much fewer connections to.
