Finally recovering after a close run battle with Covid 19. Covid caused my medical condition to flare badly. It was touch in go for a bit but I feel I have atleast beaten covid. I now have a renewed fight to regain mobility.

Kyanar:

This year (yes, 2024) one family member nearly died of sepsis and another will be dead of cancer in a matter of days to weeks. Don't tell me "happy new year".

That’s tough to deal with but it’s also a reminder how lucky you are to be well and are taking positive steps to stay that way. Hope the rest of the year improves dramatically for you.

NZ Roads.

After a couple of trips to the USA, I thought their roads were awesome.

Now I've come back from a trip to Perth, and their roads are equally awesome.

Yes you are right but go to New Orleans, pothole heaven. Yes I know why. Go to other US locations they often have concrete roads.

Go to NZ, half the population of greater Los Angeles but a land area about Japan or the UK. I hear what you say but you cannot make those comparisons.

I've been to New Orleans and I don't particularly recall it as pothole heaven, although admittedly I didn't drive around it much. I have driven on many concrete freeways, and the kachunka...kachunka...kachunka...kachunka is annoying. But at least they are functional in getting traffic from one place to another.

Whilst NZ (population density = 20/sqkm) doesn't have the population density of Los Angeles (2,887/sqkm), or even California (98/sqkm) or the USA (37/sqkm). The lowest density US State I've done some significant driving in is Mississippi (24.4/sqkm) which is comparable to NZ, and the roads there are vastly better than in NZ. And of course Western Australia's population density is 1.1/sqkm.

This latest round with covid has been worse than my first in 2021. It was made worse by the fact that I was infected due to stupid reckless disregard by a visitor. This bout came close to taking me out. It has left me a legacy of loss of mobility in arms and legs, fatigue, loss of appetite, taste and smell. a gift to me for 2024 by an idiot. Folks seem to think that Covid is no longer an issue, they are very wrong. The next few months/year(s) are going to be hell. Please be careful out there and please have regard for those at risk from this still very alive and dangerous disease.

What can one do? Quote For Truth? Say we're glad you are still with us? Hope things continue to improve for you? Condemn thoughtless idiots who think Covid is not a problem?

I am very glad you are improving, very sorry it has hit you so hard. You certainly don't need this kind of crap on top of everything else. How is your wife and other family doing?

Very best wishes from this corner. Let us hope the idiots of the world get infected by an IQ virus.

@Rikkitic thanks heaps. My wife got through OK but I hate the thought of what she went through. She is my rock, she is awesome. Our son and daughter in law were here from overseas so three sons were here to support her.  My wife is a very strong person but she needs support too so it was great that family was here but it was a crap Christmas.

I am now going to focus again to get moving and get on with life.

Maybe you need a blunt message on your door similar to most Doctors and Dentists or would that have been too subtle for your visitor?

Hearing the recorded phone calls on the TV3 doco on the Piha disappearances reminds me of the time I had a crying boy from next door on our doorstep with shouting and banging coming from the neighbours.

Police responce to my call to them was a sarcastic “and what do you want us to do about it”.

Nearly a month on from being hit with Covid 19 it is still doing a number on me. I am experiencing profound fatigue, compounded by my comorbidities. I have brain fog that is hindering simple tasks and memory. Pain levels are very high. All caused by a selfish muppet.

That my wife has Covid 19 because someone visited us that had tested positive for covid and did not tell us. My wife is a vulnerable person due to a chronic illness, so far she is doing ok but her O2 is dropping. I have so far tested negative so fingers crossed. It really angers me that someone could be so recklessly selfish to put the lives of two vulnerable people at risk.

I know of someone that has put signs on their front door to be mindful of this.  Of course you shouldn't have to do so.

We have had a laminated notice in place since 2020. We also provide masks and hand sanitiser.
