Personally, I'm OK with even 0% beer being a restricted item. Should we let kids buy it?

I have no issue with kids drinking zero alcohol beer whereas I don’t like them drinking Coke etc because if the high sugar content. There is a lot of nutrition minerals and vitamins in beer.

Why not?

The supermarkets are subject to heavy penalties for selling alcohol to minors. However zero strength beer is not alcohol so I suspect that it is just a product coding error ... or just that it is in the Alcohol product range in their system because of how it is stocked. Bit of a design flaw.

No, its a deliberate policy by the supermarket. Countdown have stated that they require ID for products that look like alcoholic products. So 0% beer, margarita mix, home brew kits. But oddly, not sparkling grape juice in the wine-looking bottles, that seems to have a grandparented clause. Also not tonic, even though the vast majority of tonic water purchased will end up in a G&T or similar...

Well technically 0% alcohol still contains alcohol, even up to 0.5% still. Now yes, you can get drunk on it or over the limit (been various studies) as the body process it faster then you can drink it, but it does still give you a blood alcohol count. Determining if this is not good for kids or not is not my specialty but I wouldn't want my kids chucking 12 0% beers just cause there is very little alcohol in it.

A single yellow line is not a broken yellow line.

"A driver or person in charge of a vehicle must not stop, stand, or park the vehicle on any part of a roadway where the road controlling authority has marked a broken yellow line parallel to, and at a distance of not more than 1 m from, the edge of the roadway."

Get a photo of this before they can change it. You should dispute this ticket if it is as described.

Hesitant to dispute as the infringement notice basically states, "If you wish to dispute the infringement notice, you can request a court hearing"...or words to that effect.

It's quite off-putting.

^^Self checkouts not accepting cash in some supermarkets......why!!

Because cash handling equipment is expensive and seldom gets used so why put it on all checkouts?

Ironically, I work in cash handling equipment😂

Referencing my local. 10 self checkouts....none accept cash, those using have to go and wait in the bulk shoppers queue

It's virtue signalling from the supermarkets. Many, many foods contain alcohol. Any food containing vanilla would contain some non-zero amount of alcohol. Even soft drinks may contain traces, and no, I'm not referring specifically to fermented beverages.

Some other things contain more alcohol than zero strength beer - for instance soy sauce can have 1.5% abv. Not that you can drink a lot of it.

I think you meant to say "can't" above?

Interestingly have had this discussion before with some parents aghast at minors drinking 0% beer. Others thought it was fine. I'm in the latter. It normalises drinking socially without getting drunk. We should encourage that.

Fermented sauces such as soy sauce have a significant amount of alcohol.

Oldest son, going to Uni - taking the bus like a good boy.

Bus driver got impatient with the amount of students getting off at the station - closed the door and started moving, while passengers were still trying to get off - my son included. When a passenger yelled, "Hey driver, we're still getting off here", his reply was "Too Bad".

Had to stay on the bus until the next station, go across the busway to the other side and get a bus back...annoying but simple, you'd think. Only most of the buses were summarily cancelled and he ended up back at the Uni (along with the rest of the students also stranded) 15 min late for a lecture he was originally 1/2hr early for.

Complaint emailed to AT - expecting radio silence.

I'm not aware of a volume setting, but my goal is to avoid touching the screen any more than I absolutely have to. So, obnoxiously loud it must be.

I wasn't aware of a volume control either.

They are so desperate for drivers - they'll be reluctant to punish them or get rid of dodgy ones. Out of the huge number of drivers in the AT fleet there are a few absolute psychos.
