@Handsomedan

A little something to get angry about is complete understatement. Don't you need to sign an acceptance protocol? Who then says that the work was done correctly?

I’ve been told by the insurers that regardless of the amount of additional damage that’s incurred, the house will be “put right” and we will effectively get to sign it off at the end. The issue is we have another month of this and we weren’t provided with alternative accommodation so have it live through the constant disruption and destruction throughout.

It’s frustrating and annoying.

I subscribe to the saturday New Zealand Herald newspaper.  The outer most layer is a Harvey Norman ad rather than the actual front page, so I can never browse the headlines as I wander back from my letterbox.

This is deliberate.
It's actually to stop cheapskates like me from browsing the front page in the supermarket without buying tomorrow's fish&chips wrapper.
You and the other subscribers are just 'collateral damage'

Maybe it’s time to push insurance hard for alternative accommodation on the basis of health and safety. Especially if you have any breathing issues in the family get the doctor to support it. This is so stressful for you all, but it will improve soon so give yourselves a few treats in the interim.

Ugh it sounds awful. I mean it's too late now, but is there anyway to mitigate this in the future, I mean if I have tradies over, would having fans in the other rooms create some kind of positive pressure to keep the dust in the room being worked on?

When I have had people doing something similar they taped up a wall of plastic sheet that had a door in it which was a zip type thing to keep the dust on one side of it.

The fact that, while it's possible for supermarkets to sell any number of potatoes, carrots, and beans without any stickers on them, it's at the same time apparently impossible to sell a single apple, pear, or orange without a plastic sticker on every single one of them.

This would also be one for the W/T/F thread, why does every single piece of fruit in a supermarket have to have a bit of plastic stuck to it?

True that. Anyone who composts their food scraps knows the annoyance of finding them littering the scene later on.

I'm after a Torx T27 bit, that is at least 100mm long. Must have the ability to be driven by a torque wrench, so no handle etc.

RS have what I want, for $17. Add shipping, $60!!

RS have free shipping over $150 so just throw in half a dozen resistors as well.

Just make sure they're zero-ohm resistors so you can solder them in anywhere there's room.
