Geektastic:

Yesterday Chorus told the Select Committee dealing with the foolish foreign buyer ban that the way it was drafted at the moment they would be unable to roll out 5G easily because, since 25%+ of their shares are held by overseas entities or individuals, they will require OIO consent for every single thing they need to acquire to achieve the network...!

Perhaps the Government should re-acquire ownership of Chorus?

Sometimes I wonder about this.

Absolute core infrastructure, roads, power transmission, communications.  Sometimes government can be best.

Installing a new video card in my computer. And the PDF with the installation instructions contained a notice stating:

"The contents of this support CD are subject to change at any time without notice. Visit (company website) for updates"

It worries me and it is also funny in a way, that they think that the data on a factory pressed CD can change without notice.

They shouldn't operate a premium hotel. I'd shorten the bill when not completely satisfied with their service. How much? They could have read it on a post-it in my room. cool

Buying a Hue starter pack and then grinning like an idiot after making a stupid little app that can turn the lights on and off laughing

Or replace those signs with other funnier ones and laminate them so they look all legit.

"Please to not use the electric kettle as a chamberpot"

"to activate the heating, please dial 8675309 from the telephone and press option 2"

etc

See that photo of the heater control?  If I'd read the freaking label before we went to bed, I'd have realised that the M + 9 setting which I didn't dial in would have meant that the stupid thing was on full bore all night.  As it was I thought I was going through manopause, spent the night sweating like a pig, worrying that it was because of something "off" in the curry that I'd cooked up.

You'd love the SetUp in Welly.  Very similar signage and varied and mercurial HVAC equipment

Getting my Bias Tee today :-)

Finally have my filtered ADS-B pre-amp going.

Max range since setting up / turning on is now over 330km.

(Previously lucky to get 210km in the last year!)

The noise floor has risen by about 10dB here in Upper Riccarton in the last year.

Must be all the new cell frequencies in use, as it drops by 8dB overnight!

Really pleased with my RTL-SDR.com unit.

Logging onto internet banking and being presented with a notice that they are reducing a lot of their fees (to the tune of more than 35% in the case of my credit card).

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

When someone with a house "out bush" accepts your offer, subject to sale of your existing, on a thursday....

And your house sells 3 days after 1st open (the saturday, on a long weekend) for more than asking.

With a 6 week settlement!

YAAAY
