gehenna: Ok, so I checked out Primer.  I'm a little lost as to the appeal here.

I'll qualify that by saying that I'm a huge fan of indy films, and dialogue driven films.  I even like films where you have to see them 3 or 4 times before you know what they're actually talking about.....

But still, Primer was a bit of a non-event for me.  Maybe I "do" need to watch it again, to see if there's any references i missed or something.  But really I just found it to be hard to follow, hard to know what events were being dealt with at what time during the film.  I wasn't a fan of the actors, I did however like the style in which it was shot.

Maybe I'll try find a Primer Walkthru online :P

Yes should of mention to watch the movie more than once, even the director recommended it. I read an online interview with the director once and best way to understand the movie is to watch it twice or three times even.  For me 2nd time around it kinda all came together.  Then i watched it for a 3rd time just to see if i missed anything.

Yeah my mate who recommended it has a crazy IQ (he qualifies for MENSA) and even he said you need to watch it a good 3-4 times.

Just saw the 1996 Doctor Who movie... pretty good considering it's more American and a lot less British. Paul McGann as The Doctor was a great choice, a shame he never got to play the Timelord further.

Eric Roberts as The Master was odd though, just a bit too cheesy.

Also saw the Doctor Who Easter special, "Planet of the Dead". Very, very cool with some foreboding hints of what is to come.

Might watch Primer tonight, since I'm on the time travel tip at the moment.

Fast & Furious 4: More of the same, but far better than Tokyo Drift and the second movie. Predictable but entertaining.

The Uninvited: Was actually surprisingly good. Felt like a movie i had seen before but i havn't seen the Korean original. Nice twists throughout too.

The wrestler:  I thought it was pretty good but i expected more, may have been hyped up more than needed.

Dragonfly: Older movie from 2002. I hadn't seen it but is one of the gf's favourites so i sat down with her and watched it. Entertaining thriller/romance/drama. Im not a kevin costner fan but he did a good job of this one. I got a few good shocks out of it too, not what i was expecting in the movie.

The Butterfly Effect 3 - Revelation: The first Butterfly effect is up there with my favourite movies, the second was really average so i didnt have high hopes in the third. But suprise suprise it was actually really good. It takes a slightly different approach to time travel than the first two, but these movies need to evolve or you get bored. Watch it if you liked the first one or the general idea of time travel.

Best serious Time Travel film I can remember.

xpd: In Bruges

Holed up in Bruges, Belgium after a difficult job, two hit men begin to differ on their views of life and death as they become used to local customs.

Odd movie, but really enjoyed it overall Smile

Yeah I really enjoyed that too.

Me too, watched it on blu-ray last night.  Thought it was extremely funny.  Brendan Gleeson is always quality.  I'm no fan of Colin Farrel but it's nice to watch something with him not putting on a crap american accent!  Great visuals in the film too, looked awesome in HD.

It was like a gangster film produced in the surreal style of Stanley Kubrick, with more than just a splash of dark humour and arthouse cinematography thrown in. Great!

MARTYRS

Crazy French horror.

Disturbing. A society of people who are bent on discovering what's on the "other side" - their experiment involves torturing somebody over such a long time, as to take their body to the very limits of death/consciousness, in hope that they might glimpse the other side and come back to tell.

Grizzly stuff.

Bedtime Stories with Adam Sandler

Was looking after friends kids so had to watch something :)
It was bit of a laugh actually and didnt just fall over at the end like a lot of Sandlers films. Not really a kids movie as such tho, the humour was fairly R13+ :)
Good movie for bit of a chuckle on a rainy day (or babysitting)

Yeah Bedtime Stories wasn't full of belly-laughs... then again, Sandler hasn't made me fall off the couch laughing for a looooong time.

And looking back on the SNL reruns on Comedy Central... he misses the mark more than he actually hits it.

It's usually his side-characters that get me laughing.

City of Ember - 7.5/10

IMDB rating was low, but then again, since when have the masses been right? (look at popular music, and the idiots people elect!)

Could be seen as a kids movie but I think it has undertones that run deeper than that - IE: the dangers of blindly accepting what the powers-that-be think is best for us.

And Bill Murray was hilarious as the smug mayor, stuffing his pie-hole with food during a food shortage.

Star Trek - zomg!!! totally AWESOME. My third big screen Trek film (following Generations and Undiscovered Country) and easily the best Trek film to date!

I love the way they *spoiler* and how they *spoiler*, and especially how he *spoiler*

Go see it, it's a fun film!
