I have an old laptop (6 years+) which doubles as a media server and as a dev server for little projects I spin up at home.

I would spin this up as essentially the same thing but with beefed up storage and hopeful a bit more stable/faster than what I have now.

With the dodgy/noisy fan and old hdd I don't thing my current set-up is going to live much longer.

Currently, I do not have a server at home. Just a standard desktop and a laptop. So no photos. :-(

I would love to have HP Proliant Microserver to centralize all the data so we can easily access it from the desktop, laptop, phones, and the TV.

Another reason why I should win this is because I share my initials with HP and Harry Potter.

Who can say no to a sexy piece of HP hardware with NAS... Both my laptop server and external storage drive bit the dust on Feb 22nd (laptop circumed to a fishtank full of water and external to a relatively short fall under neath a rather heavy stereo).

I've had HP laptops for work for years, and reckon they're great. Would love to have a proper server at home, as we've got a collection of devices piped through a regular PC that's getting on a bit - time for an upgrade, and this would be the way to do it!

Currently have a WD drive connected to a Seagate FreeAgent DockStar with Pogoplug.
Too complicated and slow (but didn't cost a lot).

Really need a proper home network server - particularly so I can get more into my Android work/development.

The HP ProLiant MicroServer really does look nice - simple, yet affective.
Always had a softspot for the ProXXXX range of gear.
First server I worked with was a Compaq ProSignia running Novell 3.12.
That thing just ran and ran and ran - only time it was unavailable was when we downed it for hardware upgrades (no hot swap drives back then!).

Something to replace the nothing I already have would be great currently using my own desktop as NAS/Server for both me and my Partner and the small time PC repair service. The only problem with doing this is the amount of power my desktop chews through as it never gets a chance to power down

so YEAH this would be an great addition

This is my HP computer doing double duty as a phone stand. I would love to have a server so that we can connect all of our portable drives to the server and then access them all through the home network. My husband uses the main computer (most of the time) for his writing and artwork, as well as email. I use the main computer when he's not using it, and the rest of the time I have a small laptop (bigger than a netbook, but still not powerful enough to run Adobe Creative Suite).

This is an amazing giveaway. Thank you for hosting it.

we have no server at mo, we have 2 laptops, and a Macbook air. we havent bought a server as they r usually quiet large and we dont have the space but the HP ProLiant Microserver is a great size and would fix right in easy

The HP ProLiant Microserver would make it possible to store, organize and safeguard our business information, particularly all large graphic files and data we all share in one place.

Currently using an old an old single core AMD that has been re-purposed pretty much as a print and media service. It's too noisy, and getting unreliable

I probably shouldn't but you can never have enough space xD

I don't have a server but I do currently have a 64GB SSD for my OS
And then a 2TB WD Internal Black Edition for games and large programs like photoshop etc
And then another 2TB WD Internal but Green Edition so its a bit slower so its only used for storage of things I may need readily accessible.

And wait theres more... Another 2 2TB WD Element Externals.
I also have a spare 1TB WD External which I'm lending to my girlfriend and another spare 1TB WD Green Caviar which could be put in a server to save the hassle of moving movies via USB pen between my beast of a computer and my parents computer; or I'll eventually end up turning it into an external drive and will probably give it to my old man.

I would install ESXi on this and have a decent test environment rather than the old Dell Latitude plus Freenas monstrosity I'm currently using.

The specs, price and reviews are actually really good. If by some incredible injustice I dont win this, I'm gonna be having a chat to work about buying me one of these for home :)
