Copyright laws. Thanks to corporations like mega-corporations lobbying in the US, the length kept getting bumped up until its now 75 years. This exceeds most artists' lifetimes.

This video is about "Happy Birthday" written in 1893, and copyright applied in 1935. the last composer died in 1943. Before it was ruled invalid last year, Warners/Chappel Hills made $14 million dollars.

@Tinkerisk:

Well, whether you first shit in the tank in the boat in France and then the whole thing goes overboard, or you channel the whole thing directly without waste water treatment plant into the rivers and lakes at home in New Zealand without the diversions via a boat, is only an insignificant detail with the same result for the environment, isn't it? Haven't we already rehashed all this in the past? 😄

What?

"you channel the whole thing directly without waste water treatment plant into the rivers and lakes at home in New Zealand without the diversions via a boat" are you saying there's no waste water treatment here? Or just from some sectors? Do you have a link to your information?

Yes, IMO that comment was either a badly failed smartA comment or woefully uninformed. It arose from one of my posts but, either way, I did not want to dignify it with a response - however I’m pleased you did.

Sir, yes sir! neither nor.

„E coli levels were so high at two-thirds of the monitored sites that there was a moderate to high risk of illness to swimmers and boaties.“

It always depends on which chicken eye you are blind to and how you deal with facts. Some even have swear words ready and run to church every sunday. Ever heard of Matthew 7:3-5? But everyone has to work that out with themselves.

Well, I am not responsible for France's Canal du midi, nor for New Zealand's rivers - so what … carry on? My comment was only that the result is the same (bad one) for all. But I am deeply impressed by how powerful collective ignorance can be - to one's own detriment.

This really grinds my breakfast gears.
We bought some a little while back and it was constantly tearing as we tried to separate the "slices" from one another to cook them.
It was virtually transparent, it was so thin.
I don't know what they are thinking? It's sold by weight - not the amount of slices in a pack.

Speaking of bacon, I accidentally bought some vegetarian rashers. I am vegetarian and have been for many years but I think I remember what bacon tastes like and these are truly horrible. Even for a vegetarian. Especially for a vegetarian. They are dry and flavourless, except for a heavy dose of salt, and don't even vaguely resemble bacon, unlike some other meat substitute products that are not bad at all. I have no idea what people were thinking here.

Depending on where you are in the world, there's always the option of "vegetarian" chicken bacon.

We travelled with a vegetarian in Turkey in the 90's and a couple of times when asking for a vegetarian option, she was offered chicken.

I get annoyed by lazy scammers.

I get frequent extortion emails, that do get filtered successfully to my junk folder.

I get this one ad-nauseum

Title: "Don't miss your unsettled payment"

Body: "Hi!

I regret to inform you about some sad news for you.

Approximately a month or two ago I have succeeded to gain a total access to all your devices utilized for browsing internet.

Moving forward, I have started observing your internet activities on continuous basis.
..."

If a scammers going to threaten me, at least use my name or PC name in the email.

There's no proof in the email; just line after line of vague statements, alternating between threats, and copy and paste techspeak.

They also assure me I can trust them. Once they have my money, they won't ask for any more. Yeah, right.

Reminds me of a fortune teller doing a cold read

This isn't small but not sure what else it should go.

If this absolute total prat doesn't get a prison sentence it will even annoy me more.

I'd rather they charged me $410 and no CC fee but didn't tell me it was built in. I hate CC fees.

i guess my dentist only charging $35 for a tooth extraction , with xrays, is a pretty good deal.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
