I think it was taken from somewhere near the intersection of Crarear and Carroll streets:

I matched the round structure, the three matching sheds, and the hills in the distance of the photo.

SH 38 on the right (going top to bottom). Crarer St (left to right) is just off the bottom of the image.

Edit: Wow, everyone replied at once!

The timber mill round thingy was the clue, along with that being industrial, so unlikely to be in the middle of town itself.  But, yep, looks like we all had the same game plan to find it.  :-)

I discovered today that I was thought I was making more at company I just left than the reality

My new company happen to have payday today,

I put together a spreadsheet about how much of a raise I thought I get.

I thought I'd get a 9.1% pay raise, but in reality, I got a 20% raise!

The company I just left I had a yearly "work-from-home" $1,800 payment (reimbursement?), which I discovered was deducted from my total wages.

Also the same company was counting Kiwisaver as part of my wages.

I read about that in the news; it's not illegal but it is frowned upon.

That plus the employment agreement lacked of any redundancy payment. So it makes it an easy decision to leave.

RNZ: Forty-five percent of employers in a new survey pay employees' KiwiSaver contributions as part of their staff's total wages, rather than on top of their earnings, as the legislation intended.

"45 percent of employers used a total remuneration approach to KiwiSaver for at least some employees.

Under the KiwiSaver act, employers are required to contribute a minimum of 3 percent of an employee's gross pay on top of their wages, if they are a contributing member to the scheme, unless both parties agree otherwise after bargaining in good faith.

The Commission's director of policy Dr Suzy Morrissey said the prevalence of the use of total remuneration packages raised questions.

'The legislation is written with a default position of earnings plus KiwiSaver, so that's the expectation,' she said.

'The prevalence of using total remuneration packages really raises that question about, are employers really using a good faith bargaining practices with their employees that they're putting on this packages?'"

That's scummy though not unsurprising. They really ought to make it a legal requirement.

I'm in full agreement, however I can't see it happening any time soon - there are good chunks of the government who sell their rem packages to their employees including the KiwiSaver - hard to fault the private sector when the example is being set by the public

Yes, and unlike the right-wing politics want you to believe, it's not drag queens doing it.

Other party was there. Not a hit and run. Admitted liability to the police. Young lady who was out after 10pm on a restricted licence.

We are fully insured. Car will be replaced. The young lady in question was in shock but airbags saved her from serious damage.

No skid, so I assume lack of attention and ran straight into the car. The pic is of where it ended up. 10m (approx) from where it was parked. equally as close to the gutter. How you can hit a car parked so far to the laft under a street light is beyond me.

It was a massive thump. Sounded like a bomb going off.

It's the inconvenience of it all that is annoying, most of all.

Dollars to doughnuts she was looking at her phone. I expect Mr Plod will charge her with careless driving but wonder if they would bother trying to get any details from the phone company to see if any texts were being sent at the time she was driving?

Right wing/left wing is meaningless these days as the economic or social meanings are not connected at all. I would call what you are referring to social conservatives. There would be plenty of economic conservative or libertarians that agree with you whole heartedly.
