Handsomedan:

Following on from the WWC thread where someone was annoyed at the scant coverage given to the largest sporting event this country will ever see.

Over the last week, the UCI Mountain Biking World Cup has been on.

There's been no mention of it on TV news. At all.
Three of the top three places in the Junior Women's Downhill went to three New Zealanders (NZ Junior Women Clean Sweep of World Cup DH Race)

A CLEAN SWEEP!

Meanwhile we are getting loads of footage of track cycling...

More annoyingly it wasn't available on the network that normally covers it.
It would be like having the World Cup XYZ on Sky then showing the final on Disney +

We were meant to go hot air ballooning today but it got called off due to winds in the wrong direction.

It’s no one’s fault but we dragged ourselves out of bed at 4:45am so it’ll be a struggle today.

This Burger King cup lid appeared to not have the usual hole through which to shove your straw. I was about to cut one when I discovered there is a little flap that you have to open. Now I feel old, defeated by new technology.

Heh, I recall booking flights, accommodation, rental car and ski passes for a weekend skiing with the wife a few years ago, forecast was awesome, until 20 minutes after we landed in QT. Skiing was closed for all of the ski fields in the area for the whole weekend.

The only upside was sleeping in :)

When the solar installers said it was pretty straightforward running the cable down inside the wall because there are no insulation in the way at any point. See also this post.

When people mark your Job Ticket as Resolved when it isn't!

But I smiled when I got the auto response to it being Resolved, and to rate the response.

I ticked "Poor", sent to comment, added "Issue is NOT resolved!"

Ordered Pizza from Dominos to pick up the other night - overall a terrible idea.

Picked it up and it was freshly made. That sounds good, right? Wrong.
I don't know how they did it, but they managed to undercook the bases, overcook one of the tops of the 4 pizzas we ordered and clump the toppings of all but one of the pizzas in a couple of areas (leaving the remainder pretty sparse).

In the end, after getting home we had to get the pizzas in the oven, after rearranging the toppings, get a large frying pan out and cook the base of one of the pizzas that was already overcooked on top, and then gag the whole mess down after re-cooking and making the damn things.

If it wasn't more expensive to make your own, I would have gone down that route. But we were looking for cheap convenience at the time.

I gave them a 1 star review via the app and made some scathing comments. I expect no repercussions or follow up.

And when you ask them to re-open the ticket because they haven't actually resolved it, they refuse because "we cannot re-open tickets because it makes our KPI's look bad".

That's your problem right there, spitting lukewarm cheese in your face.

I got a dominoes chicken pizza a few weeks and for what I paid for it, it was pretty average! The sauce was the best feature. I was thinking at the time I could make a way better pizza than this myself.

That I cannot find the field watch my uncle used during the North Africa campaigns that was given to my Dad then given to me. It's in our house somewhere but the Borrowers seem to have hidden it.

Dominos is what you get when you are feeding a large non-fussy group (sports team etc) for minimal outlay.

It really is the absolute bottom of the barrel for pizza outlets.  Pizza Hutt is a close second worst.  And over the years, Hell Pizza has made it their mission to get down to the same level after being a standout better option for a chain when they first came on the scene.

Many years ago (early 90s) I was in Philadelphia for some training with the IT company I worked with back then (and until mid-2000s).

It was winter. Snowing, way below 0c. Really cold. I ordered Domino's and drove to collect it. Went back to the hotel (nice Hilton Valley Forge).

I tuck into the pizza and it was the most disgusting thing I've tried.

I swore never to have Domino's again.

A few years back, a New Zealand PR company sent me a bottle of chianti and a voucher for a Domino's pizza when they introduced tracking. I had to go to the local because I couldn't use the voucher online. The local refused to accept the voucher.

So I didn't try it and still haven't.
