My last employer did that, thankfully my current employer doesn't. However I am now with F&P and all of their corporate templates are black and white!
geoffwnz:Employer: We will install full colour printers.
Employer: We will save money by setting them to default to double sided, black and white printing.
That seems like a great idea, having worked at places where people print tens of thousands of pages [literally!] of stuff single-sided colour that should be double-sided B&W just because it's the default it's good to see some common sense for once.
What situation requires single-sided printing? Is it a law firm? Do they also require blackletter gothic and wax seals?
Edited to add: One section of one of the printer rooms, there's one on each floor.

"Requires" was probably the wrong word. I agree that in general, most printing is perfectly satisfactory in B&W, double sided.
But whenever I want to print something in colour and/or single sided, it generally takes at least two goes, if not more to get the settings to override the defaults.
For me, if I print single sided its because I want to record notes on the blank side.
That PBTech now use PBT Couriers for 2 x MicroSD Cards, Christchurch delivery from their (I assume, as everywhere is showing stock) Christchurch Branch @ $12.85 Delivery!
Ouch Courier prices have jumped! (And changed from CourierPost where at least I knew I'd get it the next day!)

About the only time I ever print anything is because I have to sign it, scan it and send it back... and as most scanners are only single sided a two sided print loses half the pages.
Thankfully, many organisations are finally using digital signing now.

Amazingly I was able to both sell and buy a house last year simply by defacing the PDF of the S&P on a PC. No printing and scanning required anymore!

When you do this just make sure that, seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, you keep the PC on the QT. 'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then you'll all be put on KP

Sure, but for a house conveyancing contract I can print, sign and initial all the pages, get my wife to do the same and have it witnessed in about 1/10th of the time it would take to edit the PDF.
Editing the PDF is a bit questionable and out of the question if it needs to be witnessed.

You might edit a PDF for simpler things (I do all the time with NDAs and other stuff here) but if you want digital signatures then something like Docusign (or a similar service) is the way to go. One party creates the PDF with everything in it, the only thing needed is the signature/initials. Everyone involved receives an email an simply clicks the places where to put the signature or initials. Done. No time lost.

The usual excuse for this bollocks is that men have a genetic advantage over women in sports and so trans women can't be permitted to take part in female sports [*].
In this case the chess federation has presumably decided that men also have a genetic advantage over women in terms of intelligence and so trans women can't be permitted to take part in female chess tournaments.
[*] "Bollocks" because Retrumplicans in the US have proposed some 450 pieces of transphobic legislation without ever being able to produce any evidence of an actual problem that the legislation addresses. Usually they'll eventually admit there's no evidence when questioned about it, although in some cases they've simply invented things to justify the legislation.

I keep hoping an activist group of bearded muscular trans men will invade public toilets in the USA waving their birth certificates and demanding to use the female facilities.

Political machinations aside, I don't think borne female competitors in sports like swimming, powerlifting, athletics and so on objecting to borne males competing with them and using their showers is bollocks, is it?
