Inflation is what they have in Argentina. Or when in the 90s when I lived in Brazil and our salaries would be adjusted every month to match inflation.

Here? Nope. Prices go up, but salaries don't adjust every month. Companies - banks, airlines, supermarkets - complain about salaries but post record profits every quarter.

It's pure greed now.

Windows.

How difficult can it be for a PC to find a laptop on the same network in the same house.

Oh sorry the troubleshooter can see/find it but it can't actually communicate with it and can't even say maybe try this or this...

This used to be a common problem back in the windows 7 days, but, I find network discovery works pretty well these days.

If you're running windows machines, check that the network profile is set to private. It defaults to public when installing windows, which is probably a good idea for the 95% of people who don't really know what settings they should use.

Is sharing enabled on the drive that (I assume) you want to share?

If not you'll need to do that and also give Everyone full control (look under security/permissions tab).

This kids are on my case to get an air fryer. Are they any good?

We have this one: https://www.briscoes.co.nz/product/1090233/brabantia-air-fryer-oven-1500w-bbek1137/

Only bought it when it was 70% off, obviously, being from Briscoes. I wouldn't pay full price.

It's great, extremely fast to heat up and cook things and not tiny like some models.

I got one last summer, and should have bought one years ago. It's great for reheating or cooking of smallish things that you don't want to heat up the whole oven for, or that a microwave would make soggy.

Things we've used it for over the last couple of days - the kids reheating domino's pizza (takes about 4 minutes, nice and crispy), cooking cheese on toast for the nipper (3-4 mins.), grilling sausages for a party (15 mins.), and a whole roast chicken (45 mins.).

The sheer ease of all of these, with almost zero washing up for me is a no-brainer.

I have one of these  https://www.briscoes.co.nz/product/1093237/sunbeam-4-in-1-airfryer-and-oven-black-afp5000bk/

Hardly ever use the main oven now. In conjunction with a Meater thermometer it turns out delicious roasts, steaks, chops, sausages.

Makes really crispy bacon, chips, roast veggies etc. Indispensable.

Thanks all, looks like I should get one - both for convenience and to avoid having to use the difficult slow and uneconomic main oven.

Windows drivers.

This one is newer (installed by Windows Update) but with a date of 28 Feb 2023.

This one is older (from NVIDIA) but with a date of 22 Aug 2023.

So, which one is newer? Also, why is the NVIDIA application saying BOTH are the latest?

Presumably the 537.13 aka the ".13" subrelease of the v537 branch was released after the ".37" subrelease of the v545 branch.....   Clear as mud!   (And don't get me started if that means v537 is "more stable"!)

Reminds me of when we were in Turkey in the 90's and their currency was in freefall - so much so that when we were in the Grand Bazaar 3 weeks after first being there we were able to buy things for the same amount of Turkish Lira, which was a tenth of the price in GBP. The locals simply couldn't keep up with the rapid decline in the value of the Lira so just kept prices the same until they eventually had to buy new stock from overseas.
I think I got some Levis 501's for $3GBP at the time. They were an outrageous $11GBP when we first arrived.

Ordered an SSD from well known river company with a branch in AU (ok yes Amazon) on the 30th. Ordered another one from NZ company also on 30th.

Today Amazons arrived (from Sydney). Also today, NZ company finally managed to post their order (from Hamilton).

And Amazons post was free.

I learnt not to use it. Make the brush push a bead of paint up to and along where it’s needed.

Prepped the fence on Saturday. Headache on Sunday.  Sick leave today (Monday) for the headache to properly clear.  Need to get into the painting so started late today and I'm doing it in two tones.  Yeah, the two tones means I have had to break out the masking tape
