gzt: That kind of stuff is not new unfortunately. In a sense I'm glad it is in the open and people can see it for what it is and where it leads

None of the suspects have been arrested," the Federal Criminal Police Office said in a statement. A further 37 suspects have already been searched and questioned in recent weeks and months."
This happened the following day, after the statements had been analysed. 😉
"This day of action illustrates the extent to which public officials and elected representatives are insulted, slandered and threatened on the internet. In order to prevent the withdrawal of those affected from reaching a level that endangers democracy, we are consistently prosecuting these offences," explained Hesse's Attorney General, Torsten Kunze.„

Rikkitic:freitasm:But hey, let's make some clickbait headline.
More than just clickbait. To me it comes across as a partisan headline calculated to stir up anti-Jacinda rage. Very unprofessional, if this is supposed to be a media outlet.
Handle9:
Nah, it’s descriptive of the documentary. It’s quite literally called Jacindamania and seems a fairly logical connection between Ardern and deranged people on the internet.
The actual documentary sounds interesting and should be worth watching.
"It is important to note this is not a biopic. Rather, the documentary explores the rise of violent extremism and online hate in New Zealand, following Jacinda Ardern's leadership trajectory as an example of how these forces played out through one of the most tumultuous periods in modern times."

Geektastic: Arrived Sydney airport.
Presented with machines that you queue for, that then read passport, give you paper ticket. Then queue for e-gate into which you post the paper ticket the last machine gave you.
What the actual is the point of the two step system?! Every other e-gate I’ve used all over the world only requires a single step.
I can’t see any point to the Australian setup. Does anyone know why it’s done that way?
So that passengers can exchange tickets between machines?
My guess is that it's old/incompatible technology that can't send the "ticket" electronically from one machine to the next. So a paper ticket is a lash-up to make it work until they can get it done properly.
More sensibly, why not have one machine that does both?
kingdragonfly: Witness describes tire from United flight falling into San Francisco airport parking lot
Really disappointed that the witness didn't use the words "Oh, the humanity!" or at least reference Les Nessman.
Rikkitic:
Today I had a conversation.
"conversation" -- another word devalued by the marketing departments. It sounds so much better than "interaction" or "meeting'.
In the same vein, "reached out" now means "sent an email or text, or maybe phoned"

Geektastic: Goes into supermarket in Rangiora. Picks up two packets of 20 tablets of Paracetamol.
“Sorry. We can only sell you one box.”
Goes into chemist in Sydney. Sees 100 tablet boxes of Paracetamol for $2.59 each box (same box in NZ - $10)
“Excuse me. Is there a limit on how many of these i can buy?”
“No.”
Buys five boxes.
Why are we treated like children so often?!
Countdown again. There is no legal basis for this. They just seem to think they need to/have a right to/have a compulsion to control their customer's behaviour and morals. See my other post about a conversation.

Handle9:
So?
So a headline saying "Taxpayers to fork out $800k" is hardly neutral phrasing. It is calculated to whip up an angry response from certain sectors of the population. That is unprofessional baiting from a site that is supposed to be presenting the news.
I am tired of you now. Go pick a fight with someone else.

I understand we will soon once again be able to buy pseudoephedrine, which is good news. The real ephedrine doesn't work.

Paracetamol up to 10 grams is classified for general sale. Larger quantities are pharmacy only.
