Annoyance du jour, which I feel I might have posted in the past: when you're expecting a courier delivery and the courier drives right past your place without stopping. The tracking still says it's expected today.

This one swapped to "we'll deliver it when we feel like it" (paraphrased, obviously) the following morning, and then finally arrived five days later.

A different tracking site showed more detail, and it sat on "going from the Auckland depot to the Whakatane depot" for four days. Once it finally hit the Whk depot it was delivered within 22 minutes.

Bored. Typed Ford in Firefox. Clicked on Cars at Ford. Gives grand total of two, Focus and Mustang. No Fiesta, no Mondeo. How can a  car company have such a pathetic range of cars.

SUVs  / double cabs don't count as cars.

Ford discontinued Fiesta and Mondeo because "everyone" wants an SUV or a crossover. The Focus will be next.

Handsomedan:

Update on the shipping website, "Customer Moved".

No phone call, no text, no email, no other attempt to contact me. Just not delivered.
I understand that he would have looked in the window and seen that the house looks like nobody lives there, but it was only ordered a day ago - it's not like I could have moved out that quickly. Just leave the package. I didn't ask for signature. The front door is not visible from the road, so it's not in much danger of being stolen.

Now I have no idea where the package will end up - will it be the distribution centre? Will it just get returned to Apple? No correspondence, so no idea.

You can feel as you wish, however, I am going to back your courier 100% here. Your house is being renovated, looks at least partially empty and your driver comes to deliver and sees that and doesn't drop it off. You know you aren't moving, but it's a reasonable enough assumption that someone who doesn't know your circumstances, makes, that you either aren't home or won' t be home to secure your parcel of unknown value in a reasonable timeframe. Instead they err on the safe side and take it back to the depot or decide to leave it in their van till the next time they are nearby to see if the situation is different, to allow someone to try and contact you. I don't know for sure, but does your parcel contain your mobile number?

If the courier leaves it there and the house was indeed empty and it's an expensive item and it goes missing, you aren't going to be happy either.

I am sorry to hear you feel that way, it's certainly not how I perceive you, nor the majority of your decisions that I have been privy to. Hang in there, the feeling will hopefully pass.

Continuing the chemistry theme from earlier.

Now they're sending out "potentially fatal chemicals" to students. Lethal would be a better word here, but it's a bit of a stretch to label a potential carcinogen as a "powder that causes cancer".

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/education/correspondence-school-te-kura-included-deadly-chemicals-in-ncea-science-kits-to-students-including-carcinogen-potassium-dichromate/OMSOKGVI3ZEL7E6RLQNGMB4NG4/

"The kit also included a bag of sulphur which the Ministry of Education states “access should be restricted” because it is used in explosives." Don't worry boys and girls, it only makes black powder easier to ignite, so you can live without this one. Also, it's available at your local garden centre.

Why do people think it’s ok to smoke inside a small bus shelter in front of the hospital. Happens quite often and many times it’s patients that come out there to smoke in comfort.

I'd like to see smoking laws such as they have in Australia, which prohibit smoking in such places, including within so many meters of a building entrance.

Also, laws against public intoxication.

Reminds me of the phrase "the easiest way to know if I am wrong, is if my wife and I disagree on something" :)

I believe the only real correct decision I have ever made is marrying my wife of 43 years (this November anniversary)

I hope she gets to read that. It will make her very happy. Congratulations and may you have many more Novembers together.

Ads on amazon and Google smart speakers.

The only radio reception we get bedside (no FM reception) is through these and every time you change a radio station through Tunein and iheartradio you get bombarded with ads even though Concert and National are ad free.  mumble mumble........

And we wonder why school kids are extremely poorly set up to be able to do STEM in tertiary education.

No wonder the only growth industries are Coffee carts and gymnasiums.

AND after 5 days after Guy Fawkes(or what ever it is in Aus) fireworks become illegal explosives and have heavy fines.

We are in for 4+ months of regular fireworks being set off around us, and 8 months of them happening less often.

Last night is was a 2am with the neighbours.
