Elon Musk, casually laughing his head off when interviewed - about his mission to colonise Mars:

I mean, yeah, a bunch of people probably will die at the beginning...

We don't make anyone go, it's volunteers only!

Being able to swim in the ocean in late April.

Went away last week and had a couple of warm days in Coromandel...went swimming and surfing and mooched about on the beach.

Fantastic. I really do like this global warming lark.

My favourite new term: "neuro-diverse", used by Children's Commissioner Judge Andrew Becroft when describing an autistic boy.

eracode: True - never used to pay much attention to birds but as I get older and spend a lot more time at home, I have grown to really appreciate them - particularly the native birds.

Yup, me too.

eracode: The tui and kereru that inhabit the trees around our suburban North Shore home bring us great pleasure.

And those types of birds too.

Taking my two boys to a downhill mountain bike park and seeing my youngest (14yo) who apparently "isn't really into MTB" absolutely send it time and time again, riding black trails and launching himself like it's some thing he's been doing his whole life. And when he crashed (which was inevitable), he thought about stopping for the day, then saw the shuttle arrived and promptly grabbed his bike and threw it straight on the trailer.

I knew my eldest would have a blast, but seeing them BOTH enjoy themselves so much was a real blast. Boy is that kid tough...he's gone off to school today, covered in scrapes, bruises and a sense of achievement.

Brilliant

$300 Gillette razers that are being sold for $150 at launch. LOL at both things.

That my daughter has accepted a job offer and will be moving to a city less than two hours drive away, instead of the current 8 hour drive/1 hour flight, and is able to move in to live with a relative instead of having to go flat-hunting.

(Edit: observation as a parent of two in their early twenties.  When the kids were younger I was probably disillusioned in thinking that parenting would get easier as the kids got older.  It doesn't.  You do get more time back, but the trials, challenges and worrying about them are still there, just in a different form.)

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

As a man in my fifties with two Teenage sons, I can confirm...nothing really gets easier.

Yup, that made me smile as well. I don't want to think about the nightmare of what the parents would have been going through between lost and found.

When a mechanic (you've not been to before) comes up to you after replacing some tyres and says he really loves your car.

Makes me think twice about selling the old thing.

Sell it to him. One of the best things about selling my last car, was that the person who bought it, totally loved it, and have contacted me a couple of times to say how much they love it. His wife contacted me the second time, saying he had a smile for a week after he drove it the first time :)

Knowing it went to someone who knew it's benefits and was enjoying those as much as I did, put a smile on my face.

Haha, I must have had at least a dozen requests to sell the car in the 10 years I've owned it and I have quite a list of people wanting first refusal.

It would have to be a significant offer for me to even consider it at the moment. Even whilst I'm looking to buy an M5 or M3 :)

The poor mans M3 is a 335D or 335I xDrive, you should take one for a drive :)
