I'm sorry but a woman in this role wouldn't be a credible replacement to my mind, unless she has the same motoring experience, and enthusiasm as JC, which she doesn't. You need someone who is completely car fanatical to fill the role.

Absolute rubbish, there is a large number of women in motoring as professional race drivers, managers etc and in  the Auto industry in general.

Umm did you read what I wrote..

"unless she has the same motoring experience, and enthusiasm as JC, which she doesn't."

One of the things that a lot of people like about top gear is the knowledge of the history of cars that came so easily from JC and the other two, the banter regarding them was often very high quality, and without the same level of experience, it wouldn't work.

I'd like to know if you could list 10 prominent woman in motor racing/automotive industry without the help of Google. Could you name 3 from that list you think would make suitable replacements for JC? Though I expect you are the wrong person to ask since you clearly have a problem with JC and his irreverent style of presentation.

Agree.

Of the top oif my head:
Monisha Kaltenborn is race chief of Sauber F1
Claire Williams is race chief if Williams F1, although her Dad Sir Frank is still named in that role
There are two women test drivers in F1, Lotus and Williams
Many women on the race teams and management teams
Danica Patrick raced Nascar then Indycar, or vice versa

And I dont follow other race formula's, any more ust F1 and GP2, there will be many upon many

Clarkson actual knowledge of vehicles is limited, James May knowledge exceeds his by some margin. Some names off the top of my head, Sabine Schmitz comes to mind, Danica Patrick, Sue Perkins, Emma Gilmour...

High quality banter? It used to be fun, but its so scripted and predictable. In the occasions I have seen it in the last year or so, its been boring, I knew what and how anything would be said, thats how it appeared to me. Too little car show, too much shock banter, and same banter. They lost it, can't see the wood for the trees. My opinion

For those that watch the now extended pre and after practice F1 coverage, some very knowledgable female commentators, they know their stuff. And F1 coverage is factual, humrourous, straight to the point, opinions, and informative, thats a great mix. What TG used to be like as a fun, factual, humourous car show. the shock factor wasn't needed

Clarkson certainly doesn't have an great technical knowledge nor is he a particularly good driver. Tiff Needle is miles ahead of him in both those aspects.  I would still argue Clarkson is miles ahead of Tiff in terms of being an motoring journalist. IMO the only good part left of Top Gear was the actual car reviews. If they are just going to fill it will more super scripted challenges then they need to just let it die. You just need to look at TG Oz or TG USA to see Clarkson/May/Hammond made the show what it was.

I wouldn't call Clarkson's motoring knowledge "limited" by any stretch of the word.

Clarkson has been writing about cars since 1983'ish right up until recently and has been on camera since 1988. He essentially re-invented Top Gear in to the giant it is today and has carried it for over a decade.

And ruined it with repetitive, scripted shows, and put the nail in the coffin a week or more back. Thats his legacy, it was great back in the day, for sure

That is how I feel too. The car info went awol, the good humour went awol, the best thing left was the guests, and Ive even norticed them occasionallty a bit lost for words, as if "huh, weird. Surely he didnt say that"

Guests were a real injection to the show

His knowledge is limited to Super cars and "British" cars and pseudo British cars. I started watching it right back when Jason Dawe was one of the presenters, back in those series there was none of the xenophobia and racism, that came in when they decided
they needed to be shock jocks in order to maintain ratings.
