While the Beeb had to do something about Clarkson, I don't think that Top Gear is viable without him,

To be Honest, the show is essentially Clarkson, May and Hammond mucking around being lads, the fact that cars are involved is more of a medium to enable the former,

similar shows like 5th Gear in the UK have nowhere near the presence of TG, and If this is true I think the BBC might have just killed a $100 million a year golden goose.....

If they do it right it will survive, hopefully it will get a lot better and return to the Top Gear of four or so seasons back. Of late I have been loathed to watch it due to their xenophobia and racism.

My only frustration with the recent seasons of top gear is that they insist on fewer episodes with more elaborate 'challenges'. There are still plenty of vehicles to test and places to drive. But then again, I still enjoy watching them.

I used to be an avid watcher but it has turned to sh*t over the years, I used to enjoy the down to earth reviews of various makes and models where now they are do this trip or that and if you do see a review its all camera show work.

I think he was getting pretty much up himself and he could do no wrong, well think again you may not be as bullet proof as you think.

I agree, recent series have been pretty thin, less about actual reviews and opinions than silly challenges. I think part of that is somehow entwined with the production costs and requirements which must have skyrocketed. During that ill fated trip to Argentina I believe they said they had 20 support vehicles... 20!?

TG will not be TG without the 3 Amigos, so I do hope they get picked up by the likes of Netflix and get free reign do what they're best at. Whilst I certainly do not condone physical violence toward a co-worker, I think the BBC has become way to PC these days... both groups are probably better off without the other. Clarkson reminds me of Paul Henry in that sense. Both are polarising, but I've never been able to figure out why people feel the need to watch something and then complain when no one is requiring them to watch it in the first place.

I won't watch it without Clarkson, I don't give a shiz about the cars, I tune in for the politically incorrect humour.

We do hope Hammond and May walk away as well for maximum effect to the Beeb...

Clarkson, Hammond and May are the franchise not Top Gear.  Just try watching Top Gear USA.  Its utter rubbish!

Whilst he did actually assault someone and he has been fired appropriately the show will never ever be the same. What a shame.

From what I've heard James and Hamster won't work without Jeremy.

I think they've killed TG

Well that's Top Gear done, then. Maybe they will just make a new, boring, BBC Motoring show about how lovely the electric windows in the new Lada are. Hopefully Clarkson & co can continue entertaining elsewhere (though if he did hit someone over food, perhaps he also needs some anger management help, hah).

New TG featuring Jay Kay, Chris Harris and Tiff?

Also why are people blaming the BBC, Clarkson is the one at fault he hit the producer and cause the issue in the first place. The BBC and probably stuck between a rock and a hard place, sack him and risk ruining TG or let him off with another final warning and risk being dragged into a union battle...

Yep. RIP TG.

What Jeremy should do is go to one of BBC's competitor's.

TG without Clarkson would be like Faulty Towers without Basil, or Black Books without Bernard - boring and pointless.  While he might occasionally be a git, he's an entertaining git.
