I thought the one today where a man who raped a 3 year old got less than ten years in jail was the dumbest headline ever. Then spent some time getting over the shock that it was real.

I read that - and had the same reaction. He could theoretically be out on parole in 5 years.  Why no preventative detention?  From what (little) I know - I think they have to be a "serial" sex offender to qualify.  From what (also little) I know about prisons, he's going to be an expensive prisoner to keep locked up safe as he'll need to be kept separate from other inmates.  My gut reaction is that they should just let them have him.

My gut reaction involved a 9mm pistol...

This Bluetooth Tampon Is the Smartest Thing You Can Put In Your Vagina

 Drops mic.

I can't beat that; but pretty much how every new appliance has smartphone connectivity when most of them really have no need. Saw an ad the other day for a coffee machine with a smartphone app, what the hell do you need that for?

Paul1977:  Saw an ad the other day for a coffee machine with a smartphone app, what the hell do you need that for?

Making Coffee?

Assuming you're talking about the Nespresso machine, I wondered the same thing, so looked it up on the website.  The app is Bluetooth only, but does let you make coffee - assuming you've already got up and put a cup under the spout of the machine to receive it (unless you like a bench covered in coffee - I won't judge!)

Apparently it also counts the number of capsules of coffee you've used, and alerts you when you're running out.  [I suppose otherwise you'd need to use your eyes - how quaint!]

And best of all, you too can see what it looks like online with their Virtual Smartphone for demo purposes!!!!  <https://www.nespresso.com/nz/en/prodigio-machines-range>

"BREAKING: Marc Ellis driveway dispute: Briar Ross found guilty"

a) Who? Isn't he that juvenile who had some TV show where he and a similar one hit one another a lot in places around the world?

b) WTF is Briar Ross? Sounds like a North Sea oilfield or a UK shipping forecast region!

To be fair, the dumbest part about that article wasn't the headline - it was the defendant's response to the verdict.

For those not following the case:

  • Ellis obtains consent from council to build a low stone retaining wall alongside his driveway
  • Ross objects to wall, hires a digger and has it all scooped up and deposited on Ellis' driveway
  • Ross admits to having done so
  • Ross is charged with Intentional damage to property

Quote of the day, "Ross said she was "amazed and shocked" she was found guilty."

Was it stated anywhere that the defendant was not the sharpest knife in the drawer?
