Saw Star Trek last night at the flicks..

First thoughts are that i liked the new spin with the young versions of the original characters..

Well done movie with lots of action and special effects, no boring moments at all.

Karl Urban did okay, but i thought some of his lines were a tad overacted when he was trying to display the mannerisms of the original McCoy. Anyone else think the same?

Perfect Parents - 8.5/10

Brilliant movie

A concerned father and mother lie to get their daughter into a Catholic school (because the public schools in Britain are so dodgy)... turns out the Priest who is willing to accept bribes to sign the paperwork is being blackmailed into doing so - by an ex altar boy who was fiddled by him.

Gets really messy and people get killed.

Christopher Eccleston is an amazing actor and really shines in this one.

Watched A Fish Called Wanda on the flight from Wellington to Sydney... Still funny but getting old.

Do it!!! ;)

Very intense drama

Needless to say it didn't go down well with Catholics in Britain, LOL.

On the same subject, kinda - since Christopher Eccleston is in it, he also played Doctor Who in the new series.

I've just seen more Doctor Who in the last forninght than I have in aaaaaaaages. And I'm not bored with it yet - I think I rented 15 "classic" serials over the last fortnight and just can't get enough (filling the gap until the new one happens in late 09)

Yeah I was a big fan of Christopher Eccleston in the reboot of Doctor Who, he was great. Glad he only did a single season though, would have sucked if he had been typecast.

He was great in 28 days later, and Shallow Grave - one of my all time favourite films!

Keep watching Dr Who until you get up to date - there's some awesome stories in the newer seasons. Particularly the ones written/directed by Steven Moffatt

Oh hell yes dude, I've seen season 1-4 several times now, specials included. I absolutely LOVE the new series.. I've been Who obsessed since I could turn on a TV... got to meet Peter Davison (5th Doctor) and Mark Strickson (Vislor Turlough) at Armageddon a couple of months ago, geek heaven!

And yeah, wasn't Eccleston awesome in Shallow Grave!?!?!

Watched Star Trek this Tuesday and, although I've never followed the TV series or the old movies, I did come out of the theater with a feeling that I should watch the oldies now.

As entertainment goes, great movie.

I also watched Star Trek on Tuesday, fantastic, very well put together. Everything flowed nicely and the sound and visual effects were excellent. The characters were very well played and yes as Damager said might be a little over acted but I still liked the way they did it.

Yeah if you're concerned about over-acting, you'd never watch anything with Captain Kirk in it ;)

Did anybody see Shatner on Comedy Central's "Celebrity Roast"??? Someone handed Shatner a paper bag and asked him to act his way out of it, LOL!

I've just got out of the theatre from seeing Angels and Demons. Fully action packed. For those of you who have read the book, it follows the books plot pretty well, with only a few changes, and only one of the changes has any real impact. Only thing I didn't like is that some of the terminology around the Catholic church isn't explained as well in the movie as it is in the book, so some of you who haven't read the book might get a little lost, but it all explains itself in the end.

8.5/10.
