This could be a good time to ask the Royal Family to open the books on slavery. The rest of the UK seems to be looking at that. Why not the queen. I expect profits from slavery saved the royal family's bacon at one time in the past.

Wouldn't it be if you bet $1 on Prince Andrew being ousted, and it did indeed happen, then you'd get $150? $1 on the Queen being ousted and you'd get back $1200 if she was? There must be a cut-off date for this, eg they must be ousted in the next month.

I'm guessing those numbers refer to percentage odds. eg 150 is 150% meaning 1.5x

They provide entertainment and therefore a marketing opportunity via advertising. And F1 is something of a testbed/hothouse for new automotive technologies.

Looking forward to the Royal Family monetizing their profiles like basketball players to assist British firms... E.G. the Rolls Royce QE2. Oh, wait that's German. The MG QE2... oops Chinese. The Austin QE2... oh dear, defunct. Beefeater QE2 gin & Prince Philip tonic perhaps? "The Firm" PR agency. Prince Andrew Sherborne Girls School & escort agency.

Off topic, I thought the Queen made an entertaining Bond Girl in the London Olympics. She even scored an honorary BAFTA for being the most memorable one.

Royals are unnecessary when we have retired all blacks and comedians instead.

The idea of hereditary leaders doesn't seem to upset the brexit bunch who wept cos one function of the EU was, in their view, 'undemocratic'.

One thing about the current crisis is that when they bicker in public, they seem much more like a real family.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

Yeah, fair comment. F1 is anachronistic (i.e. similar to the RF to get this back within cooee of the topic ;) ) and strongly wedded to fossil fuels. But lots of car technology we use now (e.g. hybrid powertrains) was developed in F1. Formula E is definitely more relevant than F1 nowadays.

Harry confirmed this by saying, "just the three of us".

However,The Sun obtained the couple's marriage license from the General Registrar's Office today which confirmed their legal wedding date is May 19, 2018.

Stephen Borton, former chief clerk at the Faculty Office, who drew up the licence, said:
"I'm sorry, but Meghan is obviously confused and clearly misinformed. They did not marry three days earlier in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Special Licence I helped draw up enabled them to marry at St George's Chapel in Windsor and what happened there on 19 May 2018 and was seen by millions around the world was the official wedding as recognised by the Church of England and the law.

"What I suspect they did was exchange some simple vows they had perhaps written themselves, and which is fashionable, and said that in front of the Archbishop – or, and more likely, it was a simple rehearsal."

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has not commented on the event.

If what the couple told Oprah was accurate, Justin Welby would have been breaking the law, and found to have presided over a "fake" wedding on May 19 ahead of the Queen, The Sun reports.
