wondering what makes them better over alixpress? pricing seems to be a bit more so is it cause the offer local returns?

For me it was not the local returns as I did not notice that until the goods arrived.

What attracted me was the guaranteed delivery window or $5 credit if not met. I have had too many things from AE that take months and months or just don't turn up at all (especially from Czech originating shipments). With TEMU even the delivery window was very quick - putting the guarantee to one side, I orderd on 30/3 and got everything in one pack on 6/4. Plus shipping was free.

neb: In this case more of a "what hasn't arrived yet", this is a question about Banggood shipping from Australia. Ordered some woodworking stuff about two weeks ago and the result has been exactly like a dropshipping con, first about a week of the item being prepared for shipment with nothing happening despite the estimated shipping date being a day after it was ordered, then an NZ Post tracking number was allocated but still nothing had shipped. This is identical to a dropshipping con where they play for time while it goes from China to the alleged shipping country and gets repacked for "local" shipment. Has anyone else experienced this from Banggood with shipping allegedly from Australia?

Not sure if your parcel followed the same route as mine did, but I had long Australian shipping delays a couple of times when I was using Banggood - if you are in Australia, then the Australian warehouse option is pretty fast. Unfortunately if you are in New Zealand I found they use what was probably the worst onshipping partner around at the time (I think it was Quantium Solutions?). I saw items go from Banggood Australia to their warehouse in a day, only to sit there for two or three weeks before being onshipped.

I don't think there is a Banggood Australia, the pattern the shipment followed, a week of "preparing to ship" followed by another week of tracking number allocated but no activity is an exact match for a dropshipping scam where they string you along in stages while waiting for the item to arrive from China.

Ive just ordered some pointless tat thru temu so will see how they go. Used afterpay because that's safer than giving them my card details.

The "pointless tat" is redundant in this case.

Had a quick look and it looks like they've got the same Aliexpress level of dodgyness, e.g. this drill press with photos of the Woodpeckers one they've copied and then a photoshopped-in label "plastic" where the original is red anodised alu. So for me a primary qualifier for using them would be how good their dispute/refund policy is...

They have options for plastic and metal on that product so less dodgey than some of the aliexpress sellers that just use the metal pictures and sell you a plastic one.

Another one of these Bike alarm triggered by a shock  has arrived. They are cheap and work well.

About to order this, which if the advertising is right as a proper impulse-hardened Japanese keyhole pull saw.

They must be selling a lot of this stuff at quite a loss in order to get market share, there's no way that sells for that price if it's genuine.

Edited to add: Ah, and here's the catch, they're showing the photos for a metal-handled Japanese saw but what it'll be is this, a plastic-handled generic wallboard saw.

Edited again: They also had some push blocks which are slightly cheaper than the same ones on Ali, so I checked the fine print: They're tiny, more like a child's size, which both makes them useless for safety since there's no sacrificial plastic between your hand and the saw blade and probably not very good as push blocks because of their small size.

Temu really is the new Wish, it's not so much "I'd like to get this" but "I've just found this, how long will it take to find out what the catch with it is?".

I actually got this product a while ago, but I just used it for the first time today. And for the cost, I'm surprised with how good it is. I haven't used it on my head yet, just my facial hair (remove the adjustable comb completely). Smooth cut.

Enchen Boost Usb Electric Hair Clipper | Adjustable Comb Hair Cutting Machine - Hair - Aliexpress

I paid $25 for it back in February. Some reviews state that haircuts can be a bit uneven due to the flimsiness of the comb. Something to bear in mind.

Have the same after I think neb posted about it. Works great for trimming, not yet checked if it will charge off a propper USB C charger or needs to use an A to C cable yet.

I posted about the USB-C shavers, which apart from the awkward mechanism for holding the heads in place, meaning getting them out for cleaning is a pain, has been amazing. It'd be $150-200 minimum if it said Philips or Panasonic on it... just had a look and Philips shavers that include a 20-cent 7-segment display for the charge state seem to start at around the $300 mark.

All the chargers and cables I've got lying around are A so I've only charged it with an A-to-C cable, would have to hook up a USB-C PD charger and cable to see what happens, but in any case I've only charged it once so far, it runs for quite some time off a charge.

ugh, I hate this on Aliexpress as well, you search for something and a low price pops up in your search result only to investigate it further to find out its for a nut/washer/screen protector etc for the product, not the product itself, that once selected from their option list is actually more then your original search results.

These hex head screwdrivers:

It seems to be a requirement that IP-rated electrical/electronic device enclosures come with hex-head SS screws and bolts for no known reason, which are a huge pain to deal with because you need Allen keys that you change your grip on every half turn which requires having at least three hands, one to hold the equipment up/down/against a wall/whatever and two to fumble with the Allen key.

These screwdrivers turn hex-head bolts and screws into standard one-handed-operation items like Phillips-head screws, and if necessary you can give them the final tighten once the equipment is already bolted into place with an Allen key and one hand.
