Office air conditioning.

Can you elaborate on that? In summer I'm REALLY glad that my office has it!

Oh, is yours one of the few offices it works well in? sounds like heaven.

I should have said badly working office air conditioning. It's a first world problem, and, in the scheme of things, small, but also annoying.

Yes very annoying when you have to put a jacket or jersey on in the office when it is 30 degrees outside.

At a Government department in Wellington I worked at about 6 years ago we moved to a new office in early March, and then throughout winter it was freezing because the heating was left off during the day. Every day at 5pm when people were leaving the heating came on to keep the place warm when no one was there, then it was cold again by the time everyone got in the next day. As we were going through a big restructure at the time we suspected they were trying to make it so unpleasant that people just resigned and left before they had to pay out redundancies.

Probably why the EU has legal max and min temps for workplaces...

Laptops that have the Ethernet port right next to USB ports. Did you know a USB plug will fit easily and snugly into an Ethernet jack, especially if you're reaching around the side of your PC to plug it in by touch.

A small kitten who loves to grab the Ethernet cable to our laptop in the lounge and pull it out with his teeth.

I have been there. Expensive shoes destroyed - several pairs, in fact, expensive cardigan unravelled, papers shuffled, carefully crafted construction disassembled, cables removed and entangled, keyboard clicked on a malware link, clothing on the floor mistaken for litter box, etc. etc. You have got to love them.

What about when they decide to sit on you then proceed to give you a "deep tissue" massage on your legs.

Our AC works very well.  Unfortunately it is set to a temperature designed for female physiology, which means us guys are in short sleeves year round.

Can I get a job there? Ours is set so low that I wear a jersey.

A long time ago, in a land far far away, there were some young blades fresh out of University who had started their new jobs.

Well equipped with the arrogance of youth and a mischievous disposition, their wandering attention was soon drawn to a very ineffective female staff member who moaned and complained a lot and who was thoroughly useless at her job.

The young chaps soon worked out the settings of the office a/c and the staff member was often found to be complaining it was extra cold or extra hot just where she sat. No one could ever work out why. Perhaps if they had noticed that the spare a/c remote unit was missing from the dusty drawer it had been consigned to, they might have had a clue to help them work out why the settings on the wall were always perfectly normal when checked after a complaint....Happy days!

I work in a spray booth, wearing an airtight suit and mask.... We've had 3 days over 37° here this week (two days were actually over 40°). I'm off work today, due to dehydration.

Never get dehydrated. It happens quickly and hurts.

Automatic annual software renewals that debit your account several weeks before the expiry date.

We also had Vodafone cable techs around replacing a cable because of signal distortion. Examination showed feline tooth marks on the defective cable. I've put clear PVC hose over the new one, as that worked for mains cables.
