I tweaked my neck/shoulder last night in a sleeping incident. Tomorrow is the day we are finally getting to put everything back inside our house after it was repaired. Was hoping to have everything back in time for xmas, now my wife and kids will need to try and do it without me. So frustrating and I feel useless.

To make things worse, carpets got cleaned and kids walked around in socks and then onto tiles. I slipped, corrected, slammed my shoulder into the door frame and wrenched my neck extra hard, now what was moderate pain is searing tearing pain.

The number of firms I’ve rung this week who are closed.

If you want my money, be open and available to your customers and stop being so lazy.

Annoyance #1: The whole family has tested positive for COVID-19 today

Annoyance #2: so we cancelled our travel plans

Annoyance #3: ordered groceries online - because we didn't plan to be here this next week. Food was delivered but none of the deli (cheese, milk, cream, soup) or beef/meats were in the delivery.

Annoyance #4: chat tells me to wait another couple of hours until the delivery time is finished, by which time the driver might find these foods in the truck and delivery, or contact them again to see what they can do.

Well that just ****, especially at this time of year. @freitasm hope you and the family are doing OK and don't get hit too hard with it. Clearly not the Christmas you would have planned for, but hopefully you can still have some fun with each other, assuming the deli products arrive of course!

Oh no! So sorry to hear this, what rotten luck.  I hope the travel plans can at least be moved forward. At least this Christmas will be forever memorable. Sounds like a Griswolds xmas disaster with everyone sitting around eating sliced bread and canned tuna for xmas dinner. Hope you all get better soon and only have a light dose of it.

Passkey implementations. They are either passwordless, or second factor authentication, or neither. Users have completely broken experiences all around.

Also, you shouldn't rely on having passkey as the only access to a service (passwordless for example) or the only second factor you have for a site.

For example the Bitwarden Passkey feature stopped working. Cloudflare and Synology NAS don't recognise the passkey Bitwarden is sending to them.

Lucky I added these Passkeys to test and don't rely on it - I have multiple Yubikeys and Authy already enabled on these accounts. I would hate to be locked out because of the stupidity of today's developers.

I'll add something to this thread for today...

Temporary speed limits when no roadworks are taking place. E.g. today Waipuna bridge (4 lane 80 km/h zone) reduced to 30 km/h... despite no roadworks on Christmas day!

I'm sure it's been said before, but the lower speed limit isn't just to protect the workers - it also allows the new seal / chip etc to "bed in" by having traffic drive over it slowly.

6 km on the Waikato Expressway at Rangiriri signposted at 70kph for the next month or two. No work taking place new hot mix road surface has just been laid along a lot of the area. There's no need to let the chip settle on this type of finish.

Apparently the jobs not complete but everything looks good to go. It's in better condition than other parts of the expressway. It's just nuts.

The temporary limit is being universally ignored (thankfully), no one is travelling at 70 most are doing 100 to 110. This isn't surprising under the circumstances.

I think drivers are fed up with speed restrictions that have no point. You see them all over the place. Drivers become desensitised to the speed restrictions with the resulting danger of not slowing down when there is actually a need to slow down.

Too much of a little boy crying "Wolf".

"The highway will be back to four lanes later this week but with a temporary speed limit of 70kph until final sealing later in the summer.

“The work we have done now needs traffic on it to bed in before final sealing,” Wilton said."

Can you report back after the holidays on how well the intermediate seal has coped? The work will probably drag on until Easter.
