networkn: People who ask why I don't drink alcohol. I've never understood why it's inconceivable to so many people.

Funny, I was just browsing Reddit and the LPT (Life Pro Tips) subreddit had a post along the lines of "Someone saying no to a drink is not an invitation for you to ask why."

It's part of what prompted me after an annoying conversation with someone last night.

My comment is in that thread. 🤣

This weird change on the edge downloaded file menu where you now have to double click. The mouse pointer changes to a finger indicating it’s a single click but you need to double click it. Icons that need double clicking should show that they’ve been selected if clicked the once.

Actually, playing with it, it seems the download completion results in edge losing focus, so you need to click it to regain focus and then you can click again to ope the downloaded file

The above is still borked - if you remove focus of edge (switching to another window for example) you don’t need to click a link twice to follow it.

When your freezer breaks down over the holiday period and is full of supplies bought for said holiday period. At least everything is still frozen and we have offloaded to our friendly neighbours, who have space in their freezer.

Not what I wanted to be greeted by after a couple of nights away.

Still waiting to hear back from appliance repairman……

Has anyone mentioned mynahs? Horrid things with their awful screeching and cat harassing.

If anyone has any ideas about getting rid of these things I'm all ears.

Saw a car today in a disabled carpark in the Plaza

On the back of the car was a sticker of a wheelchair, ie the handicapped sign.

HOWEVER, there was no actual handicapped card in the front window AND the driver was clearly not disabled (no passengers)

My wife's knees are shot, so much so we ended up paying privately for one knee to get done.

We rely on those parks as do lots of others. If I am by myself, I NEVER use them, I have no right to do so, its the person, not the vehicle.

I know being an A$$ hole is a handicap, but it does not allow these people to park there.

Go strike up a conversation. Hi there, my wife is also disabled. How is yours doing? Doesn't it really grind your gears when someone who is not entitled uses up your parking space?

ROTFLMAO, I have had the opposite, someone complained when I took the last "open" carpark, they said I should have used the handicapped one as I had a card and let someone else have a carpark.

I did tell them it was my wife's, not mine, but they could not see the issue....sigh.
They just saw it as a winning lotto ticket.

This article annoys me for it's existence. Why would anyone need to be TOLD that weather can be variable. It's possible to rain or even snow in summer, or be 30c in winter.

I am lost for words.

Why on earth would someone write that article, and who in their right mind would publish it?

I honestly despair for humanity at times.

Honestly I think these kinds of “articles” are really just self promotion designed to get attention / views to their instagram. Surprisingly it says one of them is a travel reviewer. It’s probably cheap for Stuff and I note they’ve linked to a couple of other stuff articles in it.

A new year honours list that awards a gong to Trevor Mallard.

The last scrap of respect I had for the honours system has been removed.

The system has no shame, Brownlee will almost certainly get one when he retires from Speaker's job.

I understand the traditional gong for speakers but Mallard brought that role into disrepute in so many ways. His history of bullying. His malicious mishandling of the parliament protests, his biased house management. A bully and one of the worst speakers ever.

Contrast to Adrian Ruawhihe who was so much better in every possible regard.

Too early to say on Brownlee.

Mallard brought disrepute to everything he did. Imagine keeping your job after assaulting someone ? The way he handled the sexual assault accusations he made (separate issue) , his despicable handling of the protesters (not agreeing with the protesters for the record), and everything in between. I can't think of a politician I despise more, and if there is any justice, he will spend eternity being having the sprinklers turned on him and loud obnoxious music playing.

I can't think of a person who deserves that gong less from the politcal realm.
