How slow Windows can become when you accidentally copy-paste 10,450 html files onto the desktop.

I had to do a hard reset, but the computer froze again after inputting my password.

I ended up having to reboot into safe mode with command prompt, and perform some VERY careful regex deletions. 🀒

del *.html should be safe. Unless you store other things on the desktop which is not really advisable.

Then you copy again, only the files you need, this time.

Luckily all the files in question had the same prefix, so it was easy enough to delete everything needed, and leave the few I still needed alone.

Do they now state the EOL year instead of the model year?

Coming back home on the motorway last night doing 100 the inconsiderate basket in the car in front of me throws a lit cigarette out of the window. It scattered sparks like a firework. Wish it had got blown back in his window.

I have a friend who is a smoker. She is always considerate of others. Moves far away from people to light up, keeps her butts or disassembles them, leaves no mess behind.

Just saying.

I'm already awake again (it's 6:30 a.m. here) because some honk is outside fiddling with Chinese firecrackers. There must be a pyromaniac in the neighbourhood who has spent at least €750 on fireworks, which he set off every 15 minutes all day yesterday and the general attack at midnight.

Some people really do seem to have a talent for being a nuisance and scourge and are solely in this world for the purpose of annoying others.

While I'm awake: a famous Egg Benedict later for breakfast will calm everything down again. Ever eaten one? If not, then you don't know what you would kill the pyromaniac for and voluntarily go to hell for. πŸ‘ΊπŸ˜Š

Gravity. Particularly when applied rapidly. Or at least, the sudden stop after a sudden attack of gravity while snowboarding.
Turns out ice plus catching a heel edge hurts a lot.

Usually on the last run of the day, where you've thought, "I'm getting tired, but I'll be all right..."

For me it was a front edge combined with ice = broken rib.

Ctrl+alt+del ... Task Manager ... More details... Explorer ... end task

Note that killing Explorer will cause a temporary computer freeze, up to a good number of seconds, depending on the version.

This should delete the html files from the desktop. First statement checks you're deleting the correct files.

You can up-arrow key or F3 to edit the command line, and replace dir with del

dir %UserProfile%\Desktop\*.html /b /p

del %UserProfile%\Desktop\*.html

In the late 1990's I visited the NEC factory in Melbourne to do some testing on a PABX. From a distance the gardens surrounding the factory looked as if they had a light brown mulch but when you got closer it was about 150mm of cigarette butts.

Oooh. Nice trick. How did I never realize I could filter things like that...?

When I had my issue, even Ctrl Alt Del wouldn't work, let alone getting the Task Manager, but these dir and del tricks are bound to be helpful in the future.
