Well, if it makes you fell better, I don't find her particularly attractive.

I think she has an attractive manner, which still has nothing to do with her hearing. Obviously the message they are trying to convey is that you don't have to be old and unappealing to need hearing aids and they can even be sexy! Personally I think that's a reach.

McDonalds 1991 flashback ad, ....other things happened too -cue dialup modem sound. General public would have had little clue what they were used for back then.

Maybe here. Not elsewhere.

I don't think so. I think most people still remember dial up and for that matter fax machines which also used similar signalling tones.

Not so much an annoy but something I find interesting. That different McDonald's stores have different prices. My go to at the moment is an iced latte. $6.10 at Ruakura. $5.70 in Papamoa, $7.10 in Whakatāne.

Combining the annoyances of McDonald's and advertising... I'm annoyed that the young'uns are going to associate "The Power Of Love" with McDonald's and not the greatest movie of all time.

I have the same opinion about the "auxiliaries interface" of modern cars. Had to replace my 14 year old Nissan Tiida recently (got written off after being rear-ended), which had very tactile controls with dials and levers for things like heating, air conditioning and ventilation direction, plus easily discernible buttons for pre-programmed radio stations. Have replaced it with a recent model Honda Jazz. Great car to drive and appreciate everything that Android auto and Bluetooth connectivity bring - but I cannot operate the air con/heating/air direction controls without looking at the screen. Ditto switching between Android Auto and good old regular FM radio stations. Definitely does not help road safety.

This drives me crazy on the odd occasion I have to drive a newer model vehicle. Trying to adjust air conditioning or the radio while driving involves having to look at an unintuitive touchscreen. Much easier to fiddle with tactile knobs and sliders.

On one hand the authorities have made it illegal to use a mobile phone while driving, but at the same time permit the use of tablets to interact with the vehicle itself. Using a built-in touch screen is, in my experience, just as distracting and dangerous as typing out a text message!

You may operate your phone if it is in a cradle. I agree it is still distracting.

I have a Kia Niro, and whilst the air con controls are tactile, they are quite a bit below and to the left of my vision lines.
So to adjust any settings, especially the rear window defogger and windscreen boost defogger, they are way to the left, and eyes need to briefly leave the road in order to locate and to adjust settings.

Ditto the piano black gloss finish on the centre console. Reflects sunlight, highway lights (LED lights are the worst because of the sharper focus), and shows up any hint of dirt and fingerprints

The difficulty of getting some things.

For example, I was thinking of getting a new motorcycle helmet. I like modular helmets (the ones which have flip up chin bars, for the non-riders reading this) and one of the ones I want to look at is the AGV Sportmodular, because the shell is 100% carbon fibre which is unusual and makes it considerably lighter than most comparable helmets. It is no less than 400g lighter than my current Shoei Neotec 2 - about 25%.

It also makes it rather more expensive. So of course, you need the correct size from a safety perspective and from a comfort perspective. So it is crucial that you try these things on first before parting with (in this case) about $1500.

Do any motorcycle dealers in Christchurch have them in stock in a range of sizes? No. Do any of them have them in stock in even one size? No. Will any of them get the most likely size in so that I can try that? No. Not unless I pay for it in advance.

A couple of online suppliers can send it - again, only if you pay - and then won't exchange it if it is the incorrect size for "hygiene reasons".

So how on earth is anyone supposed to get one?

I have a Subaru Outback XT in metallic black.

One thing I dislike is cars where you can see the exterior paint on interior parts such as doors. I think it looks cheap.

Subaru do it on the front and top frame of the doors and in normal conditions, it does not look too awful, because it's black. However, in bright conditions, the gloss of the paint reflects the white centre lane markings speeding past below and creates an effect when driving similar to a flashing white light in the right hand peripheral vision. Very annoying - so annoying, I cut matte black gaffer's tape to size and stuck it up the inside of the frame!

In general the fact they make nearly all cars with a large expanse of semi gloss dash surface directly under the windscreen such that in any kind of sunshine, all you can see in the windscreen is the reflection of the exact pattern that's stamped into the dash surface.  Amplified by car yards liberally applying silicone spray to make them even shinier.

Yeah kind of my take from the ads, that hearing aids are for everybody and anybody and that those that need it can come from any walks of life. They are just a thing and should ubiquitous and unassuming part of life.

Sorry, clumsy phrasing. Of course I don't think that. I was referring to the way the message was being presented.
