Don't forget the constant "live" crosses to breathless reporters telling you the same thing as the studio anchor while standing outside a location where someone was earlier that was related to the story in question. Bonus if its just their house.
Yes, it grinds my gears to see a live cross to some reporter (& unseen camera operator) standing outside a Police station / Hospital to tell us that the Police / Te Whatu Ora has just released a press statement, which the reporter then reads or paraphrases.
The statement was most likely released from the district headquarters or even Head Office in Wellington, and it being read from a more local place simply attempts to add immediacy and authenticity in a way which borders on the deliberately deceptive.
And then there's the time, expense and CO2 emissions inherent in delivering the reporter, light, camera & operator to the chosen location.
