Rikkitic:

Isn't a GP also a specialist? I thought it required years of study, just like all the others. I know my GP has a very broad range of knowledge, which I imagine is necessary in order to be able to make referrals.

Yep a GP is a specialist physician in general medicine with a ticket to prove it.

Most GPs are very good and dud ones are rare.

They’re often terrible business managers though.

Geektastic: Bought a new Sodastream gas bottle a few weeks ago.

It was in a pink box and I asked if there was any difference. No. Just a colour change, they said.

Just ran out of gas so went to change the cylinder.

Totally different fitting, completely incompatible with our 3 year old machine.
On the box it actually says “For use with Sodastream sparkling water makers” on one side.

The "new" bottles also smaller ?

Compared to the Sodastream of old (last century), the new ones don't make it fizzy while also wasting a lot of CO2

MadEngineer:

Our GP clinic that we've been with for a year bundles charges for all our family members onto the one invoice which makes it impossible to claim health insurance on.

I think the way they work is that they put us all under the one debtor account in their accounting system so if we all go to the docs I simply get an invoice billed to myself with a line each of consultation and a total at the bottom.

Further, their so called "Tax Invoice" does not contain their GST number nor the GST value.  It doesn't include an invoice number, rather includes a "reference" number which I suppose may be the equivalent.  The invoice is dated but there's no indication of the dates of the consultations.

They don't even have a web portal.

Although I disagree with your generalisation later, I do think this whole accounting approach is terrible. If nothing else, surely it’s a breach of patient confidentiality.

Wouldn’t mind betting this approach (lumping, no GST shown, no consultation dates shown, etc) would not be supported by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. The NZ Medical Council website says: “The College strives to ensure a high standard of care in general practices across New Zealand by setting the standard for quality systems.”

Have you complained to the clinic?

I’ve not complained but I’ve emailed them on a related note so I’ll see how their response goes.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

But what if that's what I want? Surely that's what I'd call them?

How would you screw them in if the head's flat?

How do you get them to sit flush with the surface if the head isn't flat?

Just be glad you don't have to extract the slotted screws with a ratshit screwdiver (pronounced "ratchet"), which were invented by satan to inflict assorted flesh wounds upon the unwary. Father Neb had a couple, we threw them out because it would be ethically wrong to inflict them on anyone.

I bought a whole lot of adapters between different coax connectors on aliexpress for when I needed them. Today I needed them. I cannot find them. Given up and will overpay at jaycar tomorrow for the 2 or 3 I need and probably find them later in the day.

Been there and done that! Once the problems is solved you immediately come across the items you couldn't find, while looking for something else totally unrelated!

I think certain words were invented for these occasions!

I think it’s the same size. It’s lost the screw fitting on the valve for some sort of handle device.
