@michaelmurfy: The fact that when anybody says a particular keyword PeterReader goes all cynical on you.

I haven't forgotten you.

Look, an AI's hallucinating again. "I do not interact", it says...

I thought maybe you had finally shuffled your mortal coil - happily we haven't heard much from you recently. Then today there is a Peter Reader obituary in the NZ Herald.

The rigmarole created by the Anti Money Laundering rules.

Winding up a deceased persons estate.

Like being asked to provide a copy of a passport or driving licence for someone who hasn't driven for several years, the licence has long been disposed of and the last passport they held was about 60 years ago.

All the parties that want their own copies of notarised copies of proof of identity. Of course you can do it in person if you're in the same town and have the time.

With the move to emailed copies of accounts etc, fewer and fewer people actually have anything addressed to them with their address on it thus removing one choice from the list of options..

Legend has it that Peter Reader and Clippy meet at the Twizel RSA every Tuesday and Friday night to sip their sherry and reminisce about how they helped people to write letters and be wary of certain auction sites while today's AI just gets it wrong.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

It's just another form of tax.

I kid you not, meetings are held every day in offices across NZ to invent new ways of charging people for something.

You (hopefully) jest, but some forum software I use has a button to look up the details behind members' IP addresses. This links out to a third-party site, which, when you move the mouse to the tab bar, breathlessly asks whether you want to sign up for news and offers. On a database.

When the courier tracking says "delivered" but there's no sign of it.

Gotta lie to keep to those targets.

It (movie) turned up in the letterbox today. The tracking still says it was delivered on Friday so I have no idea whether the courier delivered it today, or whether it was delivered to the wrong address on Friday and the recipient dropped it off today.

Edit: But after all that, I did enjoy the movie (Wonka).

Wasps! Today thought I’d pop out to a nice bush area for a good 3 hour walk around a old water race track.

Always lots of wasps this time of the year in this area at the beginning. Normally I just keep going and they don’t really bother me much. Well 10 mins in one stings me few times right on the back of my kneck, high up on hard area around base of skull. No medication, as borrowed a pack, so take a much shorter loop under a hour.

Allergic to bees but first time stung by a wasp. Medicated now and iced up, but really sore place to get stung on. Really annoyed me as was really looking forward to a nice big bush walk.

Lessons to learn. Always carry medication and maybe avoid bright red t-shirt!

Wasps don't care what you are wearing.  They just take offense to your mere presence generally.  Often it's because you or someone in your group stepped on the entrance to their latest nest without realising.  Then when one person gets stung, everyone stops to check the damage while still being in the range of angry wasps.

I got stung by one on the calf about 11km into a 105km Ultra race.  Luckily only one wasp and only one sting.  Flicked it off and carried on.  Was mildly annoying for an hour or so then noticed from time to time.

I had one of those stripy b@stards fly into my shirt and sting me on the nipple, for having the audacity to be alive in its presence.
I hate wasps.

Crikeys I bet that was exciting 😏Had a bee land inside my biking top once but I kept calm. Stopped and pulled bottom of top up and out he flew! Was hairy chest that saved me lol.

love bees and bubble bees but wasps make me run around like a crazy flapping idiot. But then I brave enough to puff puff a nest with powder. And then break mile mark back to the house.
