neb: The fact that you can buy liquid electrical tape for a little over a dollar on Aliexpress while the same thing here is more like $30-$40. Even the dropshippers on TM overcharge for it.

Ah, nothing inspires confidence in the muck that's just arrived from Ali like the fact that the "Ingredients" list contains some etc, alongside other totally generic descriptions:

At least some of the etc smells like MEK.

Three companies in the same industry that claim to have online booking, but don't. "Enter your details and the receptionist will ring you" is a phone booking with extra steps, not an online one!

It takes a lot to annoy me, but one thing that stands out is utterly tone-deaf motivation porn. The kind that's peddled by people born into wealth or otherwise obtained through dumb luck, & wilfully mistaking it for meritocracy. Especially when it also involves pulling up the ladder behind oneself. Prime offenders include real estate advertorials masquerading as news articles about "21-year-olds buying houses", while downplaying the role of "Bank of Mum & Dad".

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

People who buy something on TradeMe and then keep sending emails trying to make contact, without checking their spam folder.

This bloke is using a @yahoo.com email address and doesn't seem to be receiving any of my emails (so far I have tried sending from two different domains and providers).

Does he have any listings you can use the question section to indicate to you him you're trying to make contact?  Or is the send instructions page still available to send more detail?

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Are you sending with the reference number in the subject because I was getting angry with people that didn't do that, but apparently crap providers will make that go to spam with numbers in there.

Otherwise open the app on your phone and send a message to them on that, so that trademe have a record that you have tried to contact them. Failing that leave a negative feedback that they didn't answer any of your emails or replies and move on.

Finally sorted thanks - I suspect it was the generic email I sent without reference numbers or anything which got through.

Tradesman that I’m paying by the hour constantly looking and texting with his phone. Every time I turn my back he’s off to some corner texting. I don’t want to have to stand over him like Darth Vader to get the job done.

Politely mention it to him.

Problem is I politely shut up. If I stand around him he finds an excuse to go to his van to get something…sure enough, he’s on the phone there too. The simple answer is I don’t use him again.

Had the same issue with a landscaper I had digging holes. He spent nearly the entire time talking on his phone. I hardly saw him work. I think in future will sort this out at the negotiation stage before they start. It’s one of the reasons that I prefer a fixed price.

This is a lot like the insurance-appointed clowns we've had working on our house over the last two years.
Our builder who did our bathroom for us was gobsmacked by how little the insurance gronks did while he was at our place for two weeks.
He stripped out, re-floored and rebuilt a bathroom in two weeks - while they pulled up some floorboards and wrecked a kitchen.

Today's PB Tech order was shipped via Aramex. Good luck me getting that within the next 10 days! My last 2 Aramex "deliveries" have been a joke.

I just managed to stop an Aramex driver from stuffing a parcel int our letterbox - it was never going to fit and he would have crushed it trying.
I was at my desk and saw him pull into the driveway, just in time.

Or to put it succinctly, "cowboys"?
