What we did on our holidays 9/10 (in tiny independent theatre)

Got the baby sitter in and went with the other half to see a movie.

Wanted something light hearted BBC type entertainment.

Separated couple take family to see dying grandfather (Billy Connelly) birthday without revealing they have separated.
Light hearted fare, exactly what you expect. Child actors suberb.

A.

Yes that's on at our village cinema and we are looking forward to seeing it. I enjoyed the TV sitcom it was based on.

Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy again, but on DVD...what a great movie.

Thoroughly enjoyable, even knowing whats about to happen next.

9/10 again

Guardians of the Galaxy on Blu-Ray. Rather cool movie. 9/10 with the help of the soundtrack.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Interstellar at the Imax.  Good movies  we gave it 8 / 10   Some great shots when the full Imax screen was used..

And on Saturday nite watched Cinerama's    Seven Wonders of the World    Considering it's age  I'll give it an 8 .  Great restoration and on Blue-ray.

Just watched Lucy. That movie made no sense at all.

He's made some good ones, far more stinkers.

The Hobbit, Five Armies.

As someone who has read the books, I can't help but feel pissed off with what Jackson did with the source material.

This movie like the others had very impressive visuals, but it relied too much on CGI (like Lucas did with the Star Wars films), and I got tired of all the swooping camera shots he likes to use.

I wouldn't see it again I don't think.

i never found the long-winded big-shot director jackson to be a particularly good story teller.

as the visuals got more sophisticated, his films got worse.

now that this hobbit nonsense has finished he needs to get back to basics film making.

meanwhile...

i watched deliverance on blu-ray (excellent film 8/10), same week that campbell live has been running stories on piggies...

Watched Thor: Dark World last night, on Quickflix via Chromecast... The story wasn't as good as the first movie - I'd say 6/10 here...

Yeah, what was the story again? Something about bad guys out to destroy the universe?

Lucy - What promise it held at the start, then spiraled into absolute stupidity.  Shame really.  Can't believe this got 6.5 on IMDB!!  I would give it a 1.5

The Equalizer - Stylish and occasionally brutal, but Denzel at his best as an ex government agent who helps out the little guy.  Marton Csokas (Leonard from Shortland Street so my wife tells me) has certainly done well for himself, who knew he could pull off a Russian mobster.  A brilliant couple of hours, highly recomended  10/10.

...If only someone would make a movie pitting Robert McCall (Denzel in the Equalizer) and Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson in Taken) against each other, that would be awesome!

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
