Now I am annoyed, that even on my non foodie forums I am exposed to moralistic lectures on where I shop on public holidays.

Maybe we need a new thread, "What's something small in the 'What's something small that really annoys you?' thread that really annoys you?".

My wife and I bought each other chocolates for Easter. Mine were Lindt truffles and hers Guylian sea shells.

Bought from different stores (Countdown and New World) in Rangiora several days apart.

When opened, both were found to have been stored/transported in conditions that melted the contents to inedible sludge.

networkn: It's irrelevant. It's a consumer choice to pay a surcharge.

Completely agree. Went to get a coffee today and they had a surcharge so went elsewhere. They have a right to charge one and as a consumer, we have a right to refuse to pay it.

It's almost like chocolate at the end of summer is a bad idea.

Geektastic: Vanishing grocery lines.

I’ve noticed over the last year or so that a number of things I like to buy have simply disappeared. For example,

1) Small chocolate desserts in yoghurt-like packing by French companies like Danone and Yoplait
2) Raguletto pasta sauce
3) Pam’s frozen croissant and pain au chocolat (both of which were actually made in France and were excellent)

There’s probably more.

It’s strange that these things, sold here for years, have just vanished without trace. If you’re like me and find change to routine etc very hard, this kind of thing assumes a significance it probably doesn’t have for most.

The fat years are simply over. Many more things will disappear.

Since the price of cocoa beans has risen so much, Lindt has also been caught cheating with the ingredients. Lindt and Guylian are nothing special here.

Best is Swiss (correction: French) Company „Valrhona“ (for professionals, normally not directly available to the end consumer).

Did they have manufactured dates? Not being particularly Easter themed the chocolates could be held over from Xmas stock.

That I have a small tear in my arm tendon, that really annoys me. Time to properly heal, 3 months! Might be able to get back to squash, with a support, within 4-6 weeks though.

Bought a new PC for homelab, thought I had all the connections I required, turns out I need an adapter for the screen I want to use with it. Had a whole evening set out...

Could have been worse. Friend of mine posted photos a few days ago of an accident he had with a ratchet puller. You could see the tendons. It was not for the squeamish.

They produce one with 100% cocoa content.

There are, but you aren't allowed any unless you cycle there so your moral superiority remains intact 🤣
