TVNZ+ yet again freezing on android dongle when I scroll and won’t move any direction. Can’t get out of the app or turn off the TV. Tried telling Nest Hub to turn off TV, it made the turn off sound but TV still stuck on the app.  Couldn’t be biffed getting up to fumble behind everything to turn off power so mutter mutter ignored it. Ten minutes later i look up and it’s gone to the dongle Home Screen. Wondering if this is a common problem with others.

Sounds like an issue with the dongle to me. Either poor design or a fault.

Shit shows always seem ensue when I’m travelling.

Dubai had 18 months worth of rain on Tuesday, somewhat akin to the Auckland storms and I’m in Germany on a work trip and unable to help. Dubai is a total crap show when it rains anyway but this has been incredible and will take a long time to get the roads back open and the city functional again.

Mrs handle is having to teach online the next couple of days and try and supervise Miss 9 and Miss 12 with online lessons.

We’ve gotten away pretty well, there’s a bit of flood damage but nothing too much but it’s frustrating when there’s nothing I can do to help but offer moral support.

Why is it so difficult to find sofas I like that are actually in stock within a reasonable distance, as opposed to deliver in July for $500

Bugger.

Sounds a bit like Auckland - a huge amount of non-permeable ground development and insufficient stormwater removal infrastructure to compensate? Was the flooding focused on built areas? Out in the desert, away from developed areas, did the rain soak into the ground?

I see the airport is also closed so hope you can get back. Phenomenal videos on YouTube each time it rains there. Shame they can’t collect and make use of it in the dry season.

I got our leather saggy ones re sprung and upholstered internally for the same reason. Cost me a grand for each sofa but was very happy with the result and like brand new. Gave up after weeks of searching for comfort and availability. If what you have has good bones it’s worth considering.

Is it worthwhile to design for a 1 in 100 year event? Some things, like earthquakes, may just have to be lived with.

Considering we bought them before we got married and that was 28 years ago, I think its curtains for them...

Still, $500 delivered from Freedom for 2 couches vs 125 for two from Target vs $180 from HN vs I think $180 from Big Save. I'm sure you can guess which has the designs I like the most.

$125 for 2?! Are these scale models for real estate dressing that nobody sits on but make the room look big?

Thats what it says. I've probably got it wrong somewhere, but don't know where.

Yeah, glasses in NZ is a complete rip off.

That may be another thing I look at while I am in the USA, it certainly cheaper out of Canada.

NZ want ANY extra (polarising ?) $200, Gradual tint $200, UV blocking $200, Better grade of plastic lens $200.
Last set of lenses (no frames) cost me $900.

I've made a post here which is probably a better place to continue the discussion.

Finding out that another batch of journals I subscribe to have been quietly switched to online-only, meaning I won't read them any more.  No notification, you just suddenly stop getting the journals you've paid for.

Gosh, I wonder whether their ongoing problems with collecting dues is that people decide not to pay them any more if they're not getting anything in return.
