Big Hero 6 - Was good fun - 5 year old said it was really cool. I enjoyed it.

But good lord - if they are wondering why people don't go to the movies - $40 for 1 adult, 1 kid, plus $20 for 2 choctops, popcorn and a water.

Then people in line being rude and inconsiderate (taking 5 minutes to decide on lollies, then answering their phone while being served, after pushing in front of me while I was talking to my son) - then complaining about how much they cost (IT IS THERE IS BIG NUMBERS ON THE WALL).

Sigh.

Next time I will take my son to La Prem or Gold Class.

Still not a lot of time to watch movies (esp. new movies) with a baby on hand, but managed to squeeze in a re-watch of some films:

Star Trek Into Darkness (no colon!) 7.5/10 (Blu Ray)

Got the Blu Ray for Christmas. Can't remember if this is a higher or lower score than the first time around, but I still enjoyed it. Sure there are a few cheesy moments in there, but it wouldn't be ST without them.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Special Edition) 9/10 (Blu Ray)

A stone-cold classic, this. No need to describe any of the story. Suffice to say, it still holds up really well, the VFX in particular. I chose the Special Edition option and it added in a few extra scenes. TBH, I think the theatrical version is superior. The added scenes with Kyle and Sarah in the asylum feel flabby and unnecessary. But it's till a cracking story, well told.

Die Hard 9/10 (Blu Ray)

A Christmas staple for me, this is so much fun, especially quoting Alan Rickman's chomped lines. "Mr Takagi won't be joining us ... for the rest of his life." Brilliant!

Aaaaaaah... I remember now. That will be why the old Spock stressed that he would not give the young Spock information that might influence his actions (time travel paradox) but made an exception with Khan because he was a mean bugger from the gates of hell and not to be messed with — but young Spock still kicked his genetically enhanced butt! :-)

Wife is not working tonight, so back to Coronation Street catch up, and the next episode of Fargo.

Took the missus to see Penguins of Madagascar on Sunday, she loved it and only cost $20.20, thank you Readings cinemas! Also means I have brownie points which I am saving for a quadcopter.

I soooo can't wait for Taken 3. Loved the first two. Liam Neeson does a great scary guy for a man in his sixties, and has given us some stand out movie quotes. In this one he is told every man and his dog are going to be after him, and he just says 'Good luck', and you know what, I think they'll need it.

Two movies I've been avoiding watched recently.

Apocolypto - 6.5/10. An achievement, but anachronistic. Also I guarantee all dick jokes were created personally by Mel Gibson. Not as much blood and gore as I expected and that was a good thing.

Divergence - 7/10. My first thought was dystopia 90210 but it is better and I plan to watch again.

I agree with you about the Kyle Reece scene. But the SE more than makes up for it with the additional stuff of them resetting his chip from "read only" mode, as this is what allows him to evolve into more than just a killing machine. Also the scene where he tries to learn how to smile is GOLD.

I seem to watching a lot of movies lately :-( last night

The Guvnor (correct spelling) It gets mixed reviews but is worth way more than the 5.3 rating on IMDB. Fairly typical Brit gangster movie, but with a bit of a message, and some clever plot twists. I rather think I shall watch it again some day.

I'll give you the chip scene, especially the part where Sarah takes the chip to smash it - the thoughts playing over her face speak volumes. And the smile scene is funny, definitely. I guess I was thinking how I didn't miss any of them in the original version - for instance, I didn't find myself confused about how the Terminator started to learn new things. Many of the new scenes, while interesting and even amusing, disrupt the pace of the story for very little benefit. Another example is the extended sequence showing Miles Dyson working at home while he ignores his family. All that does is drag out the running time without really adding to the story. All we get out of that is that he's a workaholic. For true fans we get a little bit more story (which is also interesting), but from the pure narrative of the film as a whole, it's a bit disruptive.

Went to see The Imitation Game last night.

Good geeky storyline and great performances by Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley.

Recommended.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Took my daughters to see "Paddington".
