Rikkitic:

I have been cutting away some hugely overgrown thickets of wild blackberries taking over my property. These are the devil’s fruit, the plant from hell, put on this earth to make us suffer. Blackberries are almost impossible to kill. They have a hundred different ways of reproducing  and they spread like a mustard stain on a white dress. The thorns are like a million bayonets piercing through every armour. The cut vines lie hidden on the ground, waiting to entrap and stab you. There is nothing harder to get rid of, nothing more painful, nothing more frustrating, nothing more annoying.

There's a patch across the road from us which produces nice fruit for a few weeks worth of collecting but I can appreciate your pain

Clearing yours would be a good job for team of PD lads

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

GZ posters who, after opening a thread to ask for comments or advice on something, never post again in that thread after receiving lots of comments and advice.

I had very loud / chattering like crazy kids walking around my property very late Friday night! They took off when I turned on the outside light.

This annoyed me but did think it was a little funny at the same time. They made so much noise but it was quite clear they had talked themselves into doing something stupid. Someone down road said they had glass house pane removed and just left with all the bits next to it.

I have the same issue with posters who sign up to forums for bikes/moto/cars etc to post a warranty complaint.

IE Don't Ever Buy the X Product. They turned me down for a warranty etc etc. Usually one post and done. Well, thank you for the contribution to the community over the years. I assume it's so it shows in google results.

Something else that really annoys me is the exploitation of kids in TV commercials. Some are particularly revolting, like the girl talking to the camera about her gran’s wonderful retirement home life or the children stalking SUVs like they were jungle creatures. Others are less obnoxious, like the girl in pigtails extolling the virtues of electric power. The ones I term ‘exploitation’ are the ones that try to link the inherent cuteness factor of children to whatever product they are pushing. I think it is unappealing and low class.

That's usually my go-to after a weekend of backbreaking work that shows little to no result.

As a pensioner on a rural farm, having a professional come out to even look at it would bankrupt me. If I can't do it, it doesn't get done.

The apparent complete absence of good-quality metal drawing (rather than woodworking) tools like triangles and protractors.  You've either got flimsy kiddie "geometry sets" at one end and woodworking tools with raised lips for running along the edges of timber at the other, but nothing suitable for putting together try-out diagrams of stuff before building it to allow you to explore various options.

Buying stale coffee beans! Purchased from a small coffee shop roaster too. Doesn't have that fresh coffee smell when ground. Grumpy.

Yeah that's really disappointing.
