That's true - we have new carpet with long fibres.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I gave MIL a Dyson Oversize. She still uses the old crappy one in the carpet upstairs and uses the brand new Dyson... on the garage carpet.

Eva888: Why is this suddenly a thing with vacuum cleaners.
I don't think it is, it would take a site visit to understand what's happening.
I have 3 Nilfisk vacuums and a Sharp and Herself has a Dyson V11. With the right heads on none of them are a problem.
I mainly use mine attached to tools. At $3 each from Wgtn tip shop it was easier than swapping them over. Two of the Nilfisk Neos are presentable enough to get used in the house.
Dragged the cleaner out again to give it a second chance with a more enquiring attitude and while not so mad at it for not performing perfectly out of the box. Noticing it’s the forward motion that makes it stick. When pulling back towards me it’s easy to move the head. Carpet is low pile so should be easy in any direction. Maybe when the front hard brushes wear a bit they will become easier to move. So if I forget the push pull motion and only use it in one direction it’s a very sucky cleaner and does the job. Sigh.
Frankly can’t be bothered calling and arguing about it so it can be returned and getting upset if I strike a smart Alec trying to tell me it’s entirely my fault or that it’s a one directional head. Now to find some less expensive generic bags on Allie express.
Don't know what all the fuss is about. I bought a great Living & Co vacuum from the Warehouse for $70.

Now to just see if it fails before or after bags for it stop being available, whereas the old tellus I use in the shed that was my grandparents still works, and you can still get bags for it despite being about 40 years old now.
The ASB app, which for "security" reasons completely resets itself when you switch to another app. Like for example the Trademe app from which you're trying to copy the half a dozen different pieces of information you need to make a payment.
So you've got two apps on the same phone and the only way to get information from one to the other is to write it all down on paper and re-type it into the other app, with accompanying potential for error.
sir1963:Well I apparently did a dumb, I believed the spec sheet and the manual for my Lathe.
Based on that information I bought myself a couple of MT3 holders for things like my ER32 and ER25 collet sets.
So now I am going to have to buy MT4 adaptors
The only "plus" in this is that I will be buying a mill for home too which will take the MT3 holders, but thats probably a year away.
so now I wait for the right tools to turn up.

Mine does not do that on any phone I have. there was an option on set up that was to keep logged in when switching apps which was defaulted to on.

Go to settings > personalise > "stay logged in when switching apps". Let's you stay logged in for 2 minutes in the background for this purpose.

Ah, that was it, buried in the settings. I never got given the option on install, didn't know it existed until now. What a stupid default to have.
MadEngineer: Tachycardia and customs. They must have picked up on my elevated heart rate through a fancy camera or something as I just got “randomly” drug swabbed twice at two different airports.
If Customs has a camera that can do that, various medical facilities and first responders would like to have a chat.

What lathe are you running at home?
I just ordered an optimum 28 and sick and tired of trying to mill on my myford s7 lathe..
It was "new old stock"...well it was bought for a person who never used it, so work eventually sold it (to me), its a Hafco AL54B.
It had sat in a container for storage for a while so had a lot of work removing surface rust (beds etc are all OK)
Parts of it are chinesium, so when I get a mill I will end up rebuilding the cross slide etc and fit actual bearings into them. ( as well as reduce the backlash)
It came with a DRO which I have yet to fit, I need to put the lathe onto another bench so I can take the splash tray off but still use the lathe to make the spacers I will inevitably require
Much of the lathe is still wearing in so to speak, and I am slowly learning how to use it (Blondiehacks on youtube)
The guys at work had snaffled the ER32 collet set that was bought with the lathe, so it was a big of amusement that it was supplied with a MT3 collect chuck.
For a Mill I am looking at a https://www.machineryhouse.co.nz/m141d
This has an MT3 Spindle so all is not lost.
I have the money set aside for it, I just have to clear space for it (ie sell off a big chunk of my computer collection).
But I have just bought an MT4/MT3 adaptor as well as an MT4 ER32 collet chuck. The tail stock is MT2 as per the manual, so I may end up buying a MT4/MT2 adaptor so I can use the tail stock stuff on the head stock.
I will be looking for a good vertical slide in the meantime so I can use the lathe as a mill for some of the smaller jobs I have ATM.
Sure thing, Mr Aramex. Just jam that parcel into the letterbox. You can make anything fit in there if you just push hard enough. You absolute turnip.
