freitasm:

Six things:

  1. People using my email address because they either lie on a form or don't know what their email address is.
  2. Companies sometimes put the Unsubscribe page behind their Web Application Firewall (WAF), and a rule blocks access from outside their country.
  3. Companies that don't automatically fill out the unsubscribe form with the email address so you have to type it.
  4. Passive aggressive questions like "Why are you unsubscribing?" and one of the options is "I did not subscribe or I don't remember subscribing to this list" when they should be separate options.
  5. Companies that put a "Unsubscribed by mistake? Click the button to subscribe again" after the confirmation
  6. Companies that send an email confirming your removal from the list.

Here is a couple to add that happens to people that fall for this (not me, but someone I know!):

  1. Companies that say we will send you a receipt to your email address, and then bombard you daily with most annoying marketing.
  2. Then they don't provide anyway on these annoying marketing emails to unsubscribe!

Report spam in your mail. That will make their emails less likely to get to other people and bother them.

If they're an NZ company, then take it further as they actually do things sometimes to wake places up to be compliant.

Beehive safety matches. They are now quite useless and down right dangerous.

Smaller and the head of the match tends to break off and fly in different directions when you strike the match. Strike inside the fireplace!

One off purchases gets done by an gmail email address I use for potential spammers.

I use it for realestate agents, some hotel chains, anyone who has a privacy statement that says "other trusted affiliates" etc.
I also use Apples "hide me" system for email too.

Matches these days are hopeless. I use disposable gas lighters like this

No smoke or charred match to dispose of carefully. Don't break off. Won't set fire to anything if dropped. They seem to last quite a long time too.

We must have gone through thousands of matches in our old house with the gas stove and gas oven. "Samba" brand matches were cheaper but even worse than Beehive.

Thank goodness new house has a self-igniting hob.

I don't think they could get the beehive matches any thinner!

Do you not remember the old style match books, they were made of cardboard and you had to use the flap/cover to hold the match against the striking surface

Mother Neb still had a ton of those, you had to squash the match head between the striking surface and the matchbook cover and pull them out to get enough friction to ignite them.  After you'd pulled the head off maybe a dozen matches without them ever igniting, one might actually light up, whereupon you quickly pulled out several more to light up before the first one burned out.

What about the oversized matches, the ones in a packet about the size of a cigarette packet?  Those have a lot more material to burn and are thicker so don't break when striking them, they seem to be pretty good.

The fact that Deta seem to have changed the formulation of their plastic conduit so it's no longer grey but off-white/beige:

It's maybe not so obvious in the photo but it's a very different colour which is really jarring when the conduit is run in a visible location.

Does anyone know if this is just one bad batch or if they've all gone off-colour now?  I really don't want to drop in a pile of conduit with several of the junctions the wrong colour.

We had 4 PDL 56 series (double box) switched outlets installed by a local company, 3 were beige, one was grey.
I pointed to them as said "please.....come on" and got the reply, "its legal".

Sigh.... I sometimes despair at where some in the trade have sunk to..

That pubescent girls can be such bitches to each other.

Without going into too much detail miss 12s friend group is being targeted by some other girls in her class. It’s such nasty nonsense.

Google 'helpfully' reminding me that I owe $125,000 to someone based on the fact it had failed to detect spam telling me I owe someone that amount of money

It's not limited to girls, holy crap some of the nonsense my son has seen. It's not surprising some kids find it too much.

Kids in general can just be so horrible to each other.
