Dirty spectacle lenses and computer screens.

OMG I just wiped down my monitors with a microfibre cloth and the cloth looks like I've been cleaning the road with it. Screens look much better though.

I need to clean the screens with something that will also get spots of muck off though. Scared to use isopropyl wipes - would they damage it?

dont use alcohol, Water is good,  distilled if you have it or just use Lens cleaner if you have glasses. The optician usually gives you some when you get your glasses

A few years back I received this cleaning gel. It's no longer available and I haven't found a replacement. Worst case it will be lens cleaners when it's finished.

My lens cleaner says it is isopropyl alcohol and ok on plastic lenses. The wipes are also isopropyl alcohol based. I found a Lenovo web page that says isopropyl alcohol lens cleaner is OK if you spray it on a microfibre cloth, but don't spray it directly on the screen.

The ingredients in Lens cleaners are usually listed as alcohol, water and fragrance.

I think the local Specsaver version now has Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether in place of alcohol. It's still a solvent so you'd have to know it was OK for the lens coating you've got. At least with glasses you'd expect Specsavers to know what coatings they use.

Getting a digital letter from IRD about a grace period being granted, with interest, for my GST. I filed my GST the day before the due date and expected the direct debit to occur. 3 days after the due date, I sent a message asking why the direct debit did not occur. The system says to allow for 15 working days to respond to messages. I didn't want to do a manual payment in case the direct debit kicked in and I ended up paying twice. Now I'm charged interest and have to wait for someone to respond to my earlier message and a second one I sent today. The letter is dated 6 days after the first message I sent.

Annoying because:

  1. The direct debit should have been prepared and processed on the due date.
  2. It wasn't easy to see there was a payment authority in place.
  3. Messages take 15 working days to respond to.
  4. There was no way I could respond to the letter directly and I had to send a separate message.
  5. Interest has been charged.

Shop online with my gem visa and instead of doing the verified by visa thing, or using the app to communicate with me they SMS my number that I only use for 2 factors asking me to reply with 1 or 2 depending if I made the purchase. Then when I don't reply keep messaging me about it. no idea if I can reply or what happens if I don't answer.

Have now had 2 calls from IVRs from numbers that are in the range that all the scammers use. First asking me to call them back on a 0800 number which was the same as the one they have on their website, but when I call back it just starts prattling on with disclaimers about financial advice that went for over a minute. I am at work and busy and don't have time for that crap. Second call the IVR was attempting to get me to enter personal information to verify myself.

If they get this needy and clingy over a basic $400 aliexpress purchase which I have done many times with the same card before, I hate to think how hard a large purchase on the card would be. Actually I know how hard it is since when there was a deal on sharetank I wasnt able to because they are so paranoid about fraud and pushing their problem into being my problem.

For glasses, just use Kimwipes.  You don't need any liquids, and a box of Kimwipes lasts forever.

Does your phone automatically suspect if the incoming call is a scammer? Mine does, most of the time, and I usually look up the number on the web to see if it's been reported by others.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

It has a couple of times but IME anything that is 09887xxxx is either a scam or someone trying to sell me something. Its like the range that doesnt care what their customers are or use them for.

When you see something on a website locally that has no prices unless you login, so you press apply for account, fill it in and then it just says that they will be in touch. No, I don't want you to be in touch. I want to login and see prices.

They don't want to fix a price until they've checked your credit rating 😊
