I tried again earlier with an edit but included a photo of the hours ... let's see if that works.  It's odd as previously it has always taken my changes in the same day

Screen on my Samsung Flip 4 failing. It's within warranty, but Android is still painful in this regard. I've used iPhones and still do for work, and replacing a device is reasonably painfree.

Android is more akin to someone tipping over your dresser and emptying your wardrobe is on the floor. I'm 99% sure everything is there. It's just all over the place.

After moving phones I have apps that I have no idea where the icon is so have to search for the name and open from the search results. Have tried looking thru all the pages and folders that it made of random groupings of apps and still not spotted it.

The next step is uninstall and reinstall so it goes on the last page.

Yeah my normal Android replacement strategy is set up new phone, then leave old phone without the SIM for a week or two, so that I've got the layout the same, which apps I use most often etc. So to have the screen basically switch off was a pain. I was in the car, so was still using Android Auto for an hour two but it was being a bit odd.

I'm kind of torn on what I want the result to be. I got the 4 just before the 5 was announced, and now the guy in the shop is talking about the 6 coming out. If they can just replace whatever is broken and the phone isn't wiped, I think I'd prefer that. If the phone is actually toast then I'd probably prefer it was replaced with the 5 as I never use the small external screen. Ever.

I was putting up with the broken screen on my old Android for a few months but got it fixed whilst on holiday overseas however.  The replacement cost inc labour was half that of getting it done here in NZ with no wait time and they fixed it in front of me.  I've watched plenty of fixit type youtube videos and it was fun being treated to that live.

The screen got a crack when I dropped it exiting my car.  It had a screen protector and case but it landed on a stone which struck it exactly in the spot between the case and the screen cover.  Stupid curved edge screens

When your NVidia Geforce RTX blacks out under load, despite the latest drivers and all the cooling and ventilation in place. And having to switch off at the wall for 15 seconds before powering it back on again.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

I cut the end of my thumb. It's annoying for a whole lot of reasons, but foremost is the fact that plasters don't really fit well on the spot that I cut the digit.

And I use my thumb a lot, so that's also annoying.

That made me shudder. Poor you. I had some T shape plasters for thumbs in a box I ordered from St John’s whose plasters are pretty good and don’t come unstuck easily.

The latest Visual Studio update has got rid of the "Close All But This" menu option when you right-click on a tab. And, of course, no mention of it in the release notes.

Edit: Actually, it's still there, but it's been renamed to "Close Other Tabs". Because of course it has, since MS can't leave anything alone.

Tried to book a NZ Post courier via Trademe yesterday - kept failing.
Then that option disappeared altogether and I had to choose Aramex. I was not happy. And it was $6 more expensive, but I'd already quoted the buyer the lower cost and they'd paid me, so I lost money on it.

Courier (surprisingly) came and collected the parcel yesterday. For Aramex that's above and beyond.

Today - NZ Post rocked up to pick up said parcel. I explained the situation to him - he was not happy (with TM). He saod it was one of multiple he'd lost out on today for the same reason.

Thankfully I didn't get charged multiple times. Yet.

You can backup the layout, so once you've got it as you want it; you can then just restore the backup on a new device, and immediately back to familiar again - used this for two or three phones across a number of years; invaluable.  It's a great home screen replacement, highly configurable.

Fabric plasters.  They stick and hold to anywhere

The entitled attitude of the Git who 'organised' the recent street burnout in Levin

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/levin-boy-racers-car-meet-organiser-pushes-back-against-police-minister-mark-mitchell/CLURUY74IFEVJPKQKSWUPSLZ5A/

Saying on TV news that he would tell the Police Minster to "Get F****d" when asked about the ministers ideas on how to curb this anti social behaviour.

Then this gem  "He also claimed he and other car enthusiasts would not have meet-ups in the street if they had somewhere specifically for burnouts and skids."

W*F? You are capable of 'organising' a burnout but don't have the gumption to figure out that if you want a specific venue to do this without doing it on public streets you need to make efforts do some thing about getting that venue. It doesn't magically happen by itself.

Don't expect others to do it for you.

Definitely agree, and also - that's a good laser distance meter, I have the same one and can't fault it.
