Insurgent (Divergent Part 2) 3D. 5.5/10. Way better in the second half in the virtual reality where reality doesnt matter.

freitasm: Watched The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies last night. I am glad I waited until available for rental on Amazon Instant Video. What a disappointing ending of a series. Bad acting, bad screenwriting. Give it a 6/10.

I haven't even watched the second one all the way through, let alone bothered with the third one. I got to the point where they had that ridiculous scene where the dwarves go down the river in barrels while elves prance about. At that point I gave up, pressed stop, and never bothered with the rest. And I'm someone who has been a fan of LOTR since I was about 8 years old.

^^^

I enjoyed PJ's LotR adaptation for the most part. The Hobbit was godawful. I think the man must have surrounded himself with yes men or something.

Just watched Merentau. Amazing, great movie. I think it is even better than the Raid series. Excellent marshal arts showcase for Iko Urwais and good story too.
Sign up for the free netflix trial and watch it. I have not found it anywhere else.

I love the Raid movies so I'll check this out.  Does the Netflix version have english subs or is it the englihs dubbed version (or both).

Interesting as that's straight out of the book.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow last night.  Great film, but I kept getting this feeling I'd seen it before...

I remember that the dwarves escaped from the elves by floating down the river in barrels. I don't remember elves dancing on their heads and performing ridiculous gymnastics while fighting orcs as being part of that. Mind you, it's 20+ years since I read the book. I thought it was altogether so ridiculously silly and overdone that I just threw my hands up and stopped the disc. Never went back and watched the rest.

Interstellar. Maybe 7 out of 10. Still deciding. Could go either way.

True there's no Orc's, BUT by and large that scene is pretty much as I imagined it in the book, sans Orcs.

funny - that's exactly the point where I gave up on the franchise also (although I did not enjoy the first Hobbit movie as well).

Divergent.

Clearly made for teens, but I actually enjoyed it.
As a stand alone movie, it's a bit half-done, but knowing it's really the character development stage of a series, it's quite good.

Looking forward to the next one coming out on digital download.

Taken as Hunger Games Lite - it actually suits the movie format quite well.

The books themselves are wafer thin character/plot wise and don't carry themselves well. As movies - pretty good.

I watched Tusk a few weekends ago.  Kind of a murder mystery, thriller/horror transformation from human to walrus, but over all it was weird, so weird that i was compelled to watch it to the end.  It had Johnny Depp in it, and i never spotted him until the credits at the end.
