Furious 7, great action scenes and thanks to a Visa Paywave promotion in Malaysia I got to watch it for free.

Not something I'd watch at NZ theatre prices though.

DarthKermit:
Geektastic: I was dragged to see Insurgent at the weekend.

That is 119 minutes of my life I won't get back. Truly one of the most awful films ever made.

I didn't enjoy Divergent, so I won't be shelling out cash to watch this sequel.

Neither did I but SWMBO wanted to go. Complete waste of celluloid or whatever they use these days.

I think it best that you drag her along to something that you know she'll hate. wink

The Water Diviner
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3007512/

"Dedicated to the many lost and nameless soldiers who died in battle at Gallipoli, The Water Diviner brings history alive, while making it personal"

9/10.    Both wifey and I loved it, and certainly relevant to upcoming memorial events.  Ending was certainly unexpected.  Highly recommended.

Not feeling too well today, so had a slow day.

Re-watched Gettysburg, which I hadn't seen for 7-8 years. It's a tad on the long side (over 4 hours), but in my opinion pretty darn good.

Watched 'The Dictator', I had very low expectations, but all things considered it wasn't as bad as it could be and had a few good laughs

My wife saw this at a "Chicks at the Flicks" night a while back...she came home quite depressed.

Insurgent  - 3.5/10

I didn't like the first one but the missus loved it so I went along to this one.  Terrible story, annoying characters, terrible story.

Its possible I found it annoying as I grew up on a steady diet of reading sci-fi and this storyline is quite predictable.  Throw in the teenage angst and it becomes cringe worthy.  The gf who doesn't have the sci-fi background and a preference for angsty teenage movies loved it.

I am unaware of the realities or timelines but the whole series (3 books) feels like:

Hunger Games
-Character Development
-Depth of World
-Actual Political Intrigue/Commentary
-Any actual unexpected twists

A very transparent attempt to cash in on the female empowerment/young adult/authoritarian government fantasy niche.

While hunger games eventually becomes a battle against the government - you can see it as a civil war, with the main character being used as a propaganda symbol. Yes she makes an impact and is there for the majority of everything (as you would expect form a book/movie), but there is a whole world/army etc outside the hero.

Divergent is basically "I AM SO SPECIAL I WILL SAVE THE WORLD YAY IT IS DONE".

Just wait for the second and third films. If you thought Divergent was bad and underdeveloped, just wait for the big "twist" and finale.

I have just finished watching Interstellar

Really good (if not s little ponderous) movie spoiled by a bit of a crappy ending.

I'd give it a 7.5/10...maybe

The scene in the Black Hole ruined it for me.
