I'm reminded of the John Cleese-narrated promotional film for Venice that was attached to the beginning of Life of Brian. "More of those ****ing gondolas". I can imagine the same phrase being used in reference to asparagus :)

Idle. I can't explain "savoir vivre" to you letter by letter. š¤·š»āļøš¤·š¤·āļø
Just like Germans, New Zealanders are not the benchmark for the whole world. But apparently there are more conservative complainers than curious innovators. š What interests me most about New Zealand cuisine are the traditional Maori dishes. The rest can also be found in UK, the USA and Australia. š
edit: I actually found a source for chayotes (chokos, chuchu) in Spain and ordered some to make my own judgement. Maybe there is a way to prepare it that will let me reorder. š
Tinkerisk:... Hamburger Weisswurst ...
You mean this thing?
Tinkerisk:[Oh well, then there are those of which it is said that „what the simple farmer does not know, he does not eat.“
Mother Neb used to say that a lot about Father Neb.
neb:Tinkerisk:You mean this thing?
... Hamburger Weisswurst ...
Nope. I mean this. It basically means:
„The Weißwurst: definitely not from Bavaria! Did you know where the Weißwurst comes from?
What we only know today as the original Munich sausage and regard as an ancient Bavarian invention is actually much older. It was not only in Hamburg and Silesia that veal sausage meat cooked in the intestines was enjoyed much earlier. Because it was invented, how could it be otherwise? The French.“
Tinkerisk:Nope. I mean this.
That's a Baden newspaper, it's like posting a link to an Australian newspaper reporting that the pavlova is from Australia and not NZ.

Nope. I mean this.
Neither nor. It sounds Polish, Czech or Russian to me. 𤣠We simply let the Bavarians keep their faith. That's easier (recommendation: Abendbrot platter) for everyone. š
Back to topic pls.
johno1234: I think you've made yourself the topic.
Actio = reactio.
And clichés or stereotypes should be corrected. After all, you are many, I am always just one (W.T.F.) who has to defend myself against it. šš

Actually, I have sometimes wondered why you are here at all. Not that I think you shouldn't be. As a European exile myself I greatly enjoy your posts and your perspective. I just wonder what about Geekzone appeals to you.

I will answer that for you - I promise. But not in this thread because it is OT.
kingdragonfly: I was watching a video of the 7.4 earthquake in Taiwan.

Sigh...
Could have been worse:
She goes back to her car to retrieve her cellphone.
She takes a selfie in front of the building slowly collapsing towards her and posts it to her Facebook page.
(I don't use Facebook so don't know what sort of asinine text would go here with the picture, you'll have to supply it).
She realises the selfie doesn't show enough of the building, and walks towards it as it collapses.
"We found a gas leak that's been going for a couple of days, but that's ok, we'll fix it in a week"
