Of course. I just don't think that his public persona is something he's created. I think he's mostly a good guy and the media picks up on it, fans pick up on it, people get a bit over excited about it and start to deify the guy. Then they get their hearts broken when it turns out he's not 100% angel, just like 89%.

I'm not sure that it's something that he's created so much as it's something that is - for the most part - true. But nobody is perfect and I think people should stop worshipping celebrities as though they're descended from heaven. I get it, people like to have some form of hope in this dark world and so they look to celebrities for that feel-good buzz. But nobody can live up to the expectations that people place on celebrities and I think we should all just probably recalibrate our baseline for what we expect from any famous person.

I still like Dave. What he did was pretty dickish and I can't defend it but I'm not having bonfire for my Foo Fighters albums... err... mp3s.

To be honest, I'd be disappointed by this behavior from anyone. It's a little more confronting when that persons public persona is portrayed as being wholesome and family focused. You can only base your opinions on what you see.

He probably is family focussed and like a lot of people also made a bad mistake. It happens in all walks of life.

In the end it's between him and his wife, it's really no one elses business.

I am off to see Killswitch Engage and Iron Maiden this evening.

On Saturday, my back went "TWANG", so I am in a lot of pain.

I shall have to take some serious pain relief before sitting through a 3+hr metal concert.

While I agree with that(disclaimer, I'm a massive Foo's fan), their HIV denial stance really soured them for me..

He and his band joined an anti-LGBTQ hate group that preached HIV doesnt cause AIDS](https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2000/02/foo-fighters-hiv-deniers/), which primarily targeted young low-income LGBTQ people. This led unequivocally to many deaths. The head of this organization, Christine Maggiore, not only died of AIDS so did her baby because she refused to take anti-HIV drugs while pregnant. [The Foo Fighters promoted this and even put on a concert fundraiser for them.](https://www.foofighterslive.com/shows/14th-january-2000-the-palace-alive-well-benefit-show-437)

The Foo Fighters website featured a big banner ad devoted to this organization criticizing the "AIDS establishment." You know actual doctors who know what they're talking about and effective anti-HIV medications. The Foo Fighters web forum was a hotbed for these hateful views. A Foo Fighters concert could bring in many tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars via ticket pricing, merch, and alcohol. This money and attention by the Foo Fighters spread this hateful message far and wide, otherwise impossible without Dave and the band's support. Its incredible this isn't talked about more, but that's by design. The band has done everything to bury this and refuses to apologize or acknowledge this. "I’m living in perfect health without any AIDS medicines," Maggiore told the cheering crowd between songs during the fundraiser. A few years later both her and her toddler would have died of AIDS.

Foo Fighter Nate Mendel said in an interview about this, "No, I wouldn’t feel responsible for possibly harming somebody." PR accounts and misguided fans will appear out of nowhere denying this, playing it down, or saying their recent charity (done to distract from this) somehow makes up for it. Mega millionaires giving a few thousand here and there to charity isnt really generosity nor does it bring back the people this group has hurt with their hateful lies. These are many, many deaths tied to AIDS skepticism.

The band has never come out to apologize for this or formally distance themselves from it. They just have PR teams do their best to erase this, which they can easily afford. Grohl is laughing all the way to the bank with his estimated $330m net worth. Grohl and the band live on like some kind of partyboy womanizing princes, while cemeteries are full of queer people who believed their lies, and grieving parents knowing full well anti-HIV drugs would have spared their children if not for the Foo Fighters and other AIDS skeptics. Grohl and the Foo Fighters are far worse than just perpetual teenagers.

People on TV quiz shows that obviously know the answer but go on and on about why it isnt answer (a) because blah blah blah, or (b) because blah blah blah...

For goodness sake, you know the answer, just say it!!!!!

That doesn't make for good TV.  Taken to extremes, imagine a rugby match consisting of "(start whistle blown) And then the Chinese Wanderers won seven-nil, now on to some adverts".

"Refugees" by Brian Bilston

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Wow.  That's quite a feat of poetic engineering.

There's quite a bit about game shows that boils my blood.

Games that require timing - i.e. Tipping Point - they must practice. They must see the show before they apply. They must know something.
Also - if you're on a general knowledge quiz show, learn some general knowledge! Know just a little bit about something!

I think the producers are responsible for a lot of it - good TV isn't necessarily about getting things right, winning or being good at things.

I expect  this is it and they know it.  Any show that involves the general public ('reality' tv, game shows and the like) appears to be designed to involve a broad range of feelings for the viewers; awe, cringe, envy, sympathy, superiority, etc.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

He announced it on social media. People will have opinions. They might not matter to him, however, it will still happen.
