Went to have bloods done today.

You grab a number from the tray, and they call out the number for the next person, place it in the "used" tray and then use this number +1 for the next person to be called.
Simple, it works.

What some A*Hole did today was grab 2 numbers then stuck the lower one in the "Used" tray so the next number that was called was "his" number, meanwhile 20+ of us waiting patiently got skipped over.

shk292: The flood of emails that flybuys are sending in the run up to closing down. It's as if their marketing team have a 5-year quota to reach and have realised they only have a couple of months left to hit it. I'll be glad to see the back of this when it closes
Yes I know I could unsubscribe but there are occasional useful emails from them. I just don't need three per day

I just put Flybuys messages into my Junk folder. A lot never get to me, they're already in the email provider's Spam folder - I leave them there

Where was this? The system I'm familiar with in Wellington has tickets in random order that once scanned go into a queue. When scanned the 2nd time the system records your waiting time. The queue is a series of random numbers so +1 won't work, putting anything in the used tray doesn't remove the existing numbers.

@LookingUp:

Spending ages composing a reply to a message thread, then getting the failure error "your message contained too many quotes", and no way to recover the text I'd just written. :-(

Unless you have a very old browser, hitting the back button will get you back to the page with the text you just typed.

Palmerston North. The "Numbers" are a square piece of plastic about 100x100mm with a big number on them (1-100?). You pull one out of the inbox, wait until your number is called, then the staff member takes it from you and puts it into the "done" box.

Is easy, its cheap, it works well and this is the first time I have seen a person game the system.

I had 5 or so spare minutes before an appointment so I thought I would just nip into New World and get a couple of things I needed for dinner.

I walked in to see the first aisle, the one I wanted, completely empty!

What sort of natural disaster could cause a runout of dolmio pasta sauces etc?!

No, it was just the supermarket, moving everything around. 🤬

Except the overhead signs, they hadnt moved so were no help at all.

I left without the things I needed, I had time for shopping, I did not have time for hunting and gathering.

Never a better reason for a takeaway.

They do it to slow shoppers down, this means they are more likely to make impulse purchases , and its likely to be items that have higher profit margins ...the little luxuries.

OK so it is a simple system. At Wellington SCL now Awanui the card had a barcode that was scanned after you were in the cubicle so there could be numerous cards awaiting return to front desk. I'm surprised the waiting room didn't erupt in protest. Last time we went to local community centre for booster shot there would have been 20 people waiting and every one of them knew who was just ahead of them. We just had to ask who was last.

I got an email (legitimate) from FedEx about a package I'm expecting. I replied, and got a "mailbox full" error in response. You'd think a company the size of FedEx could get this sort of thing right!

ROTFLMAO...years ago our IT department used to have an address to report Phishing scams, spam, etc to so they could firewall the sites, all they did was flush the mailbox once a month, never bothered to look at any of them.

THEN they started using some 3rd party system for sending out notifications that also contained 3rd party links to things....ie everything that they were telling us to never click on.

Sounds accurate. My employer had us all do anti-phishing training, and one of the things stressed was to always hover over links and see where they go.

But you can't do that at my work, because all incoming links are rewritten to something like https://urlchecker.com/check/sdfknsdfkjndsfjknsdfsdkfds.

Yep, so are ours for the last few years, so ended up stopping using Spamcop and phishtank for reporting spam etc. Got too hard, particularly those that then also pointed to a URL shortener.

Some really egregious ones I "decode" and report and I send a lot of sites to someonewhocares.org

The fact that my supposedly intelligent iPhone won’t recognise the indefinite article ‘a’ as a ‘word’ and insists on writing for example “have you gota car”. 🤬
