It seems we are on an old movies race... Last night we rented and downloaded Mel Brooks's Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The jokes are getting old and don't have the same impact now.

Shame Apple iTunes store doesn't list other Mel Brooks titles. I was actually looking for History of the World to wartch again.

We also rented and downloaded Benji The Hunted and Babe for Bella to watch. She's only three and we never really put her through a whole 90 minutes movie (except Walt Disney's Dumbo). She enjoyed Babe, but half way through Benji she ran screaming - the big bad wolf hunting Benji was too much for this little girl to stand.

Totally agree with Mauricio about Star Trek - Loved it, and my wife didn't even fall asleep like she did in the last ST movie I got her to see with me (First Contact in Jersey, to be fair we had polished off a bottle of lemon infused vodka the night before). Simon Pegg as Scotty was awesome!!

Speaking of Mr Pegg, watched Hot Fuzz with my family again on Sat night - love that film.

Has anyone seen Knowing? My wife's keen to see it, but it was slated by TV3's review the other night - not that we take much notice of TV3.

Now based in Perth WA.

However Blazing Saddles... my oh my, saw that recently and it still cracks me up... I don't think they could get away with those racial slurs if it was made today.

Has anyone seen Knowing? My wife's keen to see it, but it was slated by TV3's review the other night - not that we take much notice of TV3.

Which means it will be a box office hit. It seems that movie reviewers don't seem to like popular movies. Not poncy enough for them..

Same for Beverly Hills Cop... Watched it on a plane to LAX last year. Lots of racial and sexist jokes around. No studio would make that today.

Watched Knowing the other night. I thought it was really good... up until the last 15 mins, the ending ruined it for me, it was heading for a top 5 movies for me until then, not to say that others wont like the movie as a whole though.. Worth the watch anyway..
The man from earth is quite good too and i agree with Tony, i didnt think i was going to enjoy it but did thoroughly!!

If you thought the last movie was thought provoking then heres a random movie that will have you thinking for days! "What the #$*! do we know?" Revolving around Quantum Mechanics. It's a documentary, It's a story. This film plunges you into a world where quantum uncertainty is demonstrated - where neurological processes, and perceptual shifts are engaged and lived by its protagonist - where everything is alive, and reality is changed by every thought.
If your a Christian i wouldn't be watching it, your going to take offence at this, as many have before you.. Dont worry about the ratings, its quality, i feel the aforementioned have had there say on imdb.

Oh yes indeedy Christians do NOT want to read/see anything that might shatter/challenge their beliefs/delusions.

Dying to see this movie actually... I got "I am a Strange Loop" and "Godel, Escher & Bach: An eternal golden braid" from Amazon.com recently, and it sounds like a good complimentary movie to go with these books.

Might finally get around to Slumdog Millionaire tonight.

Saw Slumdog not that long ago and I quite enjoyed it. Not the sort of movie I would usually watch and enjoy, but it was actually pretty good.

Most recent movie I watched properly was Angels and Demons. I enjoyed it a lot. It was quite different to the book, and in some ways that was disappointing. Though it is still a good movie. If you liked the book, I think it is worth seeing, even if there are some key differences.

well you gotta respect the classics guys... me and my mate just watched a whole starwars marathon!!! starting with the awful first 3. the first one phantom menace(1999) wasnt bad... the second one attack of the clones(2002) anakin got REALLY annoying. and the third was by far the most annoying...revenge of the sith(2005) then the good ones came along.. empire strikes back, a new hope, return of the jedi! i love all starwars movies, even though the actor of anakin was really annoying...

Went to the movies today to see "I Love You, Man". Quite funny and enjoyable. I would like to see Angels and Demons, but the time was wrong, since we had to collect Bella from her grandparents and it was getting late.

We saw the trailer for the new Tarantino movie, "Inglourious Basterds". It looked good, if you like war movies - keen to watch that one.

I went to go and see Star Trek and loved it (was always a trekky fan). Also went to go and see Angels & Demons. I enjoyed it until nearer the end but I won't ruin it for anyone :)

On Friday we had a Top Gun movie night at my place. Such a great movie. '86 was a great year!
