I thought it was to see how many people there are in the county but they seem to want a lot of very personal details.

Can anyone remember if the last one was done online or not?

DaveDog: Emails should be crossed referenced so that only one person can enrol using one email address.

I know a number of people that used a shared address, e.g. "thesmiths@provider.net.nz".

Lucky when my mum did hers she did mine for me I had a quick look and said ''I'm not doing that'' but being a good mum she did mine for me I told her not to bother with them nobody is holding a gun to our head.\

Anyway all done now hopefully another 20 years before they decide to do another one. She said it was easy and most questions didn't apply.

Using a shared address would and should exclude you from online voting in this scenario.

Depending on which side of puberty you are on, you may or may not remember your mum doing your census five years ago. If you happen to be a duck either in real life or on virtual reality forums, you may find you struggle to cope with society. Filling in your census forms every five years is simply part of being a normal member of society. Don't be a duck.

Of course you wont say no to the improved services that the gathered and analysed data can bring.

Of course he also won't say no to any government handout that may come his way, will he?

After I called last week, well today manage to have field officer visits while I was home, I give him the code that I use, so he check it on the spot. Well the field officer did say this online system for the first time is pretty messy, he said he been to few address had the same issues like us. Well hopefully in 5 years time the online system will be much more better & improve.

We sent our online forms before the due date. Surprisingly, when I was checking the mailbox I found new Census paper forms. I rang them to ask why and they supposed to return my call. Still waiting.

Alarmingly - I have to agree... I simply cannot fathom the unwillingness, inability or even the attitude of people to simply contribute to the communities in which they live. Their attitudes, self centred and totally self absorbed attitude astounds me...

Anyone else getting harassed with letters and new code, even though they filled it out on 6 March?

I did, but they keep sending letters threatening prosecution and fines.  I called their helpline after the 3rd letter, they were less than helpful.  They couldn't confirm anything, couldn't lookup anything what the point of a helpdesk.

Especially considering I filled out and submitted online, surely its searchable.  All they said was thanks for filling them out and you won't get any further letters.  Thought that was the end of it, but wrong.. just received another letter.

I don't have the code I used any longer, as I threw it away after completing it.

I stopped being contacted after completing the survey for the house. Oversight on my part on the night, had filled it in for x4 people but not the house.

Census field officer blasts delivery of operations

This Radio NZ article is a bit non sequitur but supports my contention that Stats NZ wasted resource with duplication of effort so I'm posting it.
