msukiwi:
That it has been 8 years today since I had "Locked In Syndrome" and was resuscitated while alive!
(And I'm still here to celebrate "I'm Still Alive Day"!)
Now that is truly remarkable (and I expect unimaginable for most folks - including me). Have you shared your story publicly?
Keep smiling - it's fantastic you can.

Short version is that I was born with the cause, nothing I could do to avoid the stroke as the "problem" was unknown and is actually unfixable without killing me - which defeats the purpose of fixing it!
Normally it is fatal, apparently about 3 people worldwide get up again. I lost half the interface from my brain to my spine.
2 months before I could move my right thumb once and 2 weeks more before I could do it again! (Let alone walk)
Originally (8 months before the stroke) I knew something was wrong. Was under a Professor at Christchurch Hospital for the 8 months before the stroke! (Never heard from him again after it!)
He took the left trail in the path, the problem was on the rarely used right trail.
On a Sunday night I had the stroke, ambulance came and said "No Problem" and left me.
By the Monday morning the damage was permanent, and I was not expected to live.
I defied the odds, and they decided to wean back the blood thinners. Thursday my blood obviously was no longer thin enough.
So now I'm on high dose blood thinners for the rest of my life. I can do most things ok, but arm or leg may pack a tantrum if I do too much.
Christchurch Hospital 10/10, Burwood 0/10 - Booked myself out in 6 days!
Referred by a friend to Balance Works Physiotherapy - worth every penny spent! (And cheaper for a home visit than a 1 way taxi trip to Burwood for free physio cost back then - the Govt would pay the return trip!
So here I am! As I told my Neurologist - "I'm still on this Planet as I still have people to persecute!" to which he said "That is as good a reason as any!"
So that is the basics. Hope I didn't bore anyone too much. Remember - if you think something is wrong - it probably is!

I don't think you'll ever bore anyone with what is a quite remarkable story. I wish you all the very best.

Thanks everyone.
I used to be "a hurry up and wait" guy. Now I mainly wait!
(PS: A nursing student did a study of my case including a home interview. Her tutor had heard of what I had and locked in syndrome etc but never had all the details. Needless to say that they were really impressed with the students report! I work on the theory that if I can help a person to learn something, I will. After all we all had to learn sometime!)
smell of napalm and sound of napalm coming out of mufflers
afe66: Walked to work this morning.
No traffic about but there was a speed radar near some road works that picked me up walking towards it. Can report 5 to 6 km/hr.
(I stopped and restarted walking several times)
I've seen one "record" a water filled barrier approaching at 30kmh. Except nothing was moving near the sensor.
My son, learning from my wife about the bones in the hand, gets to the fingers, but can't recall what he was taught says:
The Thumb bone
The Index finger bone
The don't ever point it at anyone bone
The ring finger bone
The runty finger bone.

Amusing software bugs, like Edge saying "good evening" to me at 15:19.
Learning new things to help others and trying new toys:
Learning
Yesterday, learned how to connect my free Keepsolid VPN account to Core-elec on my minix neo u9-h so my partner can watch the Ozzy version of the Olympics through Channel 7.
Also yesterday, harvested the last of my $1 cauliflower plants I got from Mitre10. Brought into work and was snapped up in less than 10 minutes.
Buying
Just got me an Aeropress. Now waiting for coffee from Aoraki Roasters to arrive. Few of the workmates are keen to test out this new toy.
Walking back from my blood test this morning to find a Courier waiting for me.
It was a dozen cans of Renaissance Brewing beer for me, sent by a friend in Australia for doing a favour for him!
A very nice surprise.
Wakrak:watch the Ozzy version of the Olympics through Channel 7.
