StarJam in liquidation - they did wonderful things for disabled kids - including mine

That's really sad. They have done such great things.
Surely a wealthy benefactor can come to their rescue? A bank, looking for a bit of virtue-signalling sponsorship, perhaps?

mudguard:

I think the worst thing for me is almost how little relevance it has for me, yet I'm going to be inundated by it for four years. I'm sure there are trade implications etc but it feels like motorway rubbernecking.

This is not to say I like him, I think he's awful. But we know the next four years will be he's done this, not done that, said this, ad nauseam.

Not to mention every single photo will be the least flattering possible angle, snippets of what he says, partially clipped video and audio clips to harvest outrage. I despise him and think it's the worst outcome for the world of the two candidates, but honestly the obsession with him is beyond unhinged too.

Changing tack slightly...

The weather.

It's warm, sunny and very pleasant out and I am working.

Very annoying

Be grateful your Northern temps are mostly high in comparison with Wellington. Am sick of seeing the weather mapping 24 even further South or East while we sit in the middle of the island at a windy 'feels like 13' forecast with the heater on.

Far worse than that, it is like watching a train wreck. It starts as we find out if the rest of his Cabinet will be as unqualified for their jobs as RFKjr will be.

Like-minded leaders overseas will probably be emboldened to crash through guard-rails & effectively rule by decree. It's happened in Hungary & Turkey, to name a few.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Cool, so this is a politics thread now.

Another one to cross off the list.

What a rigmarole. Trying to book a flight and use my airpoints.

My airpoints account was originally set up via New World and may have been migrated from a previous loyalty system (I can't really remember how it all worked, given it was maybe 10 years ago). Accordingly it's under my abbreviated "day-to-day" name rather than the full legal name on my passport.

When I try to book my flight it pre-fills the name field and says that it must match the name on my passport. There's an option to change it, but it says if I do that then I can't pay using airpoints.

The airpoints account management page doesn't let you change your name, and it says you need to contact them. I rang them up and was told that I need to send a copy of my passport (even though this clearly wasn't necessary to create the account in the first place) and when I queried how long it would take, "today, or maybe tomorrow".

So I sent in the details and got an autoresponse saying that my name should be updated within 10-15 business days.

Edit: And then two minutes after I posted this they get back to me and say it's done! :)

Edit 2: And then after all that, "Your balance is too low to spend Airpoints Dollars"!

So how does one go about muting or ignoring a thread that you've participated in anyway? I've spent ages trying to figure this out, with no success.

Thanks! Is there a button or profile option somewhere to do this, just to streamline things?

I’m posting this one on behalf of my wife.

The strange refusal of NZ companies to state salaries in job adverts. She wastes so much time phoning companies and agencies to screen the jobs in order to determine whether it’s worth investing the time and effort to apply.

There's a link inside the email. I'm not aware of any other way to do it if you've already deleted it.

There's also an "Unwatch Topic" button at the top of every single page in the thread.

Maybe it needs a <blink> tag around it.
