The Imposter

Surely the most bizarre true story I have heard in a long time. A 13 year old boy goes missing in Texas in 1993. 3 years later a 23 year old Frenchman impersonates him and travels to the USA to meet his 'family'. I'm not sure what was more bizarre, the fact that he did that or that fact that the family believed him. He didn't even look like him.

6/10.

SJB:
RUKI: The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) - IMDb

I do not know what my favorite reviewer was drinking to give it such a good rating or why IMDB have so high rating.
Strongly disagree.
If it were more than $2 (got in Video Ezy on special) I would say it not only waste of time but also waste of money

Just shows how everyone is different. I think it's an great movie, albeit pretty quirky.

It was up for Best Picture at the Oscars this year as well.

Best not to get any other Wes Anderson movies. You won't like those either.

I agree, it was certainly an artsy movie.

Personally, I enjoyed "The Life Aquatic", absolutely loved "Moonrise Kingdom", and totally gave up watching "The Grand Budapest Hotel" after about half an hour, as I also thought it was complete rubbish.  Just goes to show something, I guess...

I 'll take a look at those. Have you seen The Darjeeling Limited?

Rushmore is a great early Wes Anderson. Bill Murray at his deadpan best

No; although I do intend to.

I was highly encouraged by my son to go with him to Fury Road last night.  It was somewhat bizarre.  The cinematography was great; knowing that most of the action was done with practical effects rather than CGI make me wonder how they managed to avoid injuring or killing anyone during the filming.  There was a plot (which I wasn't really expecting), which was a bonus; but it was all a very surreal experience.

I guess my best one-word summary of the film would be "Weird".

Another bunch of $1 -$2 Blurays from VideoEzy:

Jack Reacher (2012) - IMDb

Agree with review. Good one. Surround sound. More realistic than usual Tom Cruse' movie. Based on series of books. Our reviewer  even read them all and the only thing he disagrees with is that somebody else but Tom should play the part :) . But rated it high.

Lawless (2012) - IMDb

Strong play. Accent was a bit harsh on our ears, but overall story is well played.

Rise of the Guardians (2012) - IMDb

Colorful but mismatch of caracters and scenes - i.e. kids scenes are jumped into adult dialogs and back with weak connections.
Not all caracters are cool and some look Disney.
"Easter Bunny". Hugh Jackman voiced that Aussie cool looking bunny very well. Loved it.
"North" Cool caracter , but Alec Baldwin was unable to recreate Russian accent. Referrrence to Matreshka Doll is quite deep though.

FYI: in Christmas times in Russia, "North" (aka Ded Moroz) is never "wondering" alone like in this movie and never travels on the deer. It is 3 horse sleds.
He is always escorted by a gorgeous young grand daughter - Snegurochka. (Google images of "ded moroz i snegurochka")

Please stop using bold characters for all text. There is no need for it.

Just saw Mad Max: Fury Road and I have to say I was blown away. The cinematography and the costume design were some of the best I've ever seen before, loved every second of it. 10/10

That is unintentional - when I copy paste link from Google pointing at IMDB all following text appears in bold. how to fix that? Menu option "B" does not seem to remove bold.

Paste into Notepad first, then copy and paste that into Geekzone.

It works just fine - select all, click the B button in the menu. Or select all and CTRL B.

Ex-Machina BD

Holy shi  t !
This is a great film from Alex Garland.
Intelligently scripted, well acted, economically paced.
It shows up other auteurs (eg. C Nolan) as purveyors of bloated excess.

Film 9/10
Picture 8/10
Sound  8/10

Another Bluray:

Pacific Rim (2013) - good CGA, good sound, just another entertaining chewing gum for your eyeballs.

Note: CTRL-A then CTRL-B or using B in menu does not work to remove bold. (no immediate visual that it does the job)
Using Notepad is lame and link to IMDB is gone of course.

It works just fine - select all, click the B button in the menu. Or select all and CTRL B.

Experiment -  as you suggested:
copy pasted from google to retain the hyperlink to IMDB, typed brief comment, then CTRL-A and CTRL_B twice, when doing that - your text and THIS line changes from non-bold to bold and back again, but the copy-pasted line below DOESN'T (you have created this forum, you are the only one who can fix it :) try yourself to replicate the bug and see if it works. Last attempt - pressing B in menu on selected line below - no visual, but after I saved the post - it showed as non-bold:
Pacific Rim (2013) - IMDb - good cga and sound. entertaining.

So the bug is: no visual changes on inserted copy pasted text while using menu before saving the post.
